Thread regarding CVS layoffs

The grass is greener on the other side

Laid off in August last year, found a contract gig almost immediately. Started full time a couple months ago with better pay and better title. The grass is indeed greener on the other side, my only suggestion would be to apply now and get out before they axe you in the upcoming cycle.

I was part of the June layoffs last year and definitely have found greener pastures. Amazing position making quite a bit more and also received a very nice sign on bonus. I was lucky to also get the job before my severance ran out. I have a larger team and doing work that I am passionate about. Remote and love my boss. It can be greener.

Glad you found new work and just like you’re happy to be gone I’m sure they are happy you are gone as well. Win win for everyone.

I was part of the August layoff and I can’t find a job. Hundreds of resumes out. Dozens of interviews (10+ for one position alone). Then the job is either put on hold or I’m the runner up. It’s a hard job market.

I was part of the big one last summer, 5000+. I do miss my colleagues and loved what I did. But there are greener pastures. I am making the same amount of money I did at Aetna for a fraction of the work. I am also interviewing for a few other positions that will pay more. So swallow the fear and start looking.

To be fair, one should ALWAYS be applying to other jobs. I was with one job for 10 years and I still applied to other jobs at least 1 per month after I was there for about 18 months.

It took years for a better fit to appear.

Employment is transactional. They are looking for something better so should I.

Congratulations and thank you for the great advice. In today’s job market environment, always have a contingency plan ready. I wasn’t part of the 5,000 laid off last autumn but I made the decision to resign then. There was some disorientation and some adjustments and every minute was worth it!
