Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

These Boots are made Walking….

Found this telling on so many levels…..from Fast Company (you’d think she’d swoosh up for an interview at the very least.)

“Heidi O’Neill, the company’s president of consumer, product, and brand, sits in front of a window, seven stories high in the Serena Williams building on Nike’s 400-acre global headquarters, discussing the company’s 2024 Olympics strategy. It’s my third time visiting the campus, and she’s the only employee I’ve encountered who is bold enough to eschew the swoosh on her feet, instead opting for black platform ankle boots.” Let’s just walk those boots right out the door.

Here’s the link.

Point is, she’s an executive leader, talking to the press, about the Olympics(!) and is called out by this reporter that took notice on 3 occasions. Did this act wreck the company? No but is it a reflection of the culture she changed…definitely.

No one is demanding our CEO wear nothing but Nike Yoga. Our brand has thousands of different styles available.

They should visit the employee store once a quarter and find a closet that works for them. Like everybody else forced back into the office. We got loads of dad sneakers, khaki pants, golf polos, button downs from Skate, black tshirts, jackets, …

The only thing we don’t sell is Speedo’s, wetsuits (we sold Hurley), and snowboards.

My FTE onboarding included a large meeting where +30 people had to share their “My first pair of Nike’s” story one by one.

We require that level of brand commitment from our nursery staff. Why is our leadership held to such a low no standard?

Nike is circling the drain because we fired the people that saw us as more than a company, while promoting (or hiring from outside) those that saw a cash cow to be milked for personal gain.

Our wolves are so arrogant they don’t even bother to dress like sheep.

"Our leadership’s distaste for the brand is so telling."

it certainly is. 50 yr olds can only dress like those big bodied, dei nike dot com models for so long before feeling kind of silly

one of the most politicing, underhanded operators you'll find behind the berm, and has - cleverly - used her gender and esteemed position to escape the axe for YEARS

Remember that NA resale fiasco a few years ago? Wasn't she following and liking the kids instagram posts before he got found out? lol

Our leadership’s distaste for the brand is so telling.

Their inability to wear Nike isn’t directly the cause of our downfall, but it is the most glaring symptom of the problem.

Would anyone want to buy steak from a vegan? Because that’s what we’re selling these days.
