Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Oregon/Barnhart

No layoffs here today. The gloom inside the office is heavy and everyone is just waiting for their time.

At Barnhart and I have noticed much of the same. I have a theory that the site will likely close in June, and then Beaverton SD will take over the lease early and remodel to integrate into the campus next door before the next school year. Just things I've heard, I like to keep my ears open when people think no one is listening.

One of the security guards told me that he thought they were going to move the folks in the Tower downtown into Barnhart instead.

Also in Oregon (not Barnhart) and the mood is much the same. Slowly the desks of our fallen comrades are being cleared off. The building is being remodeled daily. We got sent to work from home for maintenance over the weekend. They are painting everything neutral colors in preparation for a sale. Half the building sits empty and less and less are in the office every day. The managers who are left behind with us are doing their best to keep morale up. We are all wearing brave faces. But the more we come in every day the less we want to be there. It's depressing.

Barnhart amenities are a joke. They stopped filling the soap dispensers and replacing paper towels. I mean....wow. Let us go already!

State unemployment insurance is defined by each State. Some let you take severance and receive unemployment while some don’t. Taking the lump sum won’t help because they will know how long it was for and use that as the starting point. After severance runs out in the States that won’t pay to then, the State will start paying unemployment. You still have coverage but can’t get it til later. So in those Stares there is no double pay. Your State unemployment office can answer for questions on what their policy is.

You'll need to check the rules for your specific state. This is an Oregon thread, so my comment was for Oregonians. We can collect both severance and unemployment since reporting severance is not required here.

Once the cafe closes, it should be soon after.

I’m from Barnhart and I cannot wait to be let go. I think the people protesting and getting signatures are valiant and if I hear they’re planning anything else, I’ll join them but at this point with the way we’ve been treated I’m ready.

Thank you for the update - I'm not sure everyone at Barnhart would be aware if others had or hadn't been laid off, since there are so many different groups in the building. Not sure what group you're reporting from, OP, but my heart goes out to you for feeling like a sitting duck. I've been there. It was a relief to be laid off, because knowing the deal you're getting is better than being in limbo. Hopefully you'll stick around for that sweet severance + unemployment combo.
