WTF
@1kkw+1svFKC2S, Indians and Filipinos work for 1/3 of the U.S. salaries. If you make $90K in the U.S., they can do the same job for $30K. That's what Charlie means by cost efficiency. There is no way he will reverse that direction. He wants to make more money by offshoring jobs.
@1faf+1svFKC2S so kind of a reverse layoff. We layoff the P&I employees and replace them with US. Problem are these:
- the cost or "perceived cost"
- increasingly the US managers are replaced with P&I managers.
Makes sense.
@1faf+1svFKC2S, most of our jobs are not going to China, our jobs are being shipped to India and the Philippines. India is becoming a technology hub, and the Philippines is becoming an administrative hub.
Can we try to replace workers in India and China?
@op if you are truly scared don't feel helpless. Get some training. Realize that at Wells Fargo you have learned many bad habits that have to be unlearned. Prepare for a life after layoff. Even if you don't get laid off on 5/14 you most likely will this year.
OP, have you ever been thru a layoff? It’s not fun. This is a layoff board so feel free to discuss it but please stop the comments like this. Real people are out there that this is affecting.
Yes, OP, you are helpless. You should up your meds.
Best of luck, OP. Layoffs will likely be 500-1000 people today, but buck up, there's still 170k or so domestic workers, so most of us will survive to see tomorrow. Likely you will to, but if not, take the severance and run.
Just jump and get it over with you insecure a$$ole
It’s just you. Dear God I am deserving. Please give me the honor of a layoff. This company is nothing like it used to be. I have given my years and can”t bear to wall watch this utter destruction.
First I’m hearing of this
Remember that you are more than your job. You have value. Take care!
emails sent this AM, big wigs coming in tomorrow for my site. 10 - 30 years experience from people, now being tossed out
Stop being “loyal.” Take care of yourself. That strategy got your parents ahead. Hasn’t applied since the early 90s (beyond WF). This doesn’t apply in today’s job market. For anyone just starting out, do not stay longer than 8 years (probably even less). Move. On. If you stay too long, your experience doesn’t translate to another company. People don’t appreciate longevity today. I’m convinced old WF is one of the last large companies eradicating this. Move. On.
Layoffs will occur, better update your resume & look elsewhere for work.
Not scared. They have been threatening this for years, so I'm not surprised, just disappointed. It's not the same place anymore, so I think I'll embrace it.
Nope not scared, this bank is not the bank of 25 years ago when i started. They have let go of high performers due to location strategy BS. I’m ready and look forward to my max package. I have earned it with my blood, sweat and tears. Always remember nothing in life is guaranteed!!
I sure hope my notice comes tomorrow! If not, at least please let it happen before I quit/retire before the end of the year. F this id--tic place
emails sent this AM, big wigs coming in tomorrow for my site. 10 - 30 years experience from people, now being tossed out (15ish of us) and been replaced by 40 people overseas and 8 more stateside who are struggling to just somewhat keep up what our team could do ourselves and having to train them too. decades of dedication, missed children school programs, etc. from mandatory working late, going above and beyond to get things done in same day turn around and now feeling the gratitude from the company. may the odds be in your favor if you are still with the company each week. tuesday after paycheck seems to be true on when notifications are done.
What business group?
