When is the group going to get their stuff together. It’s a roller coaster of ride which never ends. Worst to worst.

It’s been a sh-t show for years.
No matter what gets thrown at it it’s just too effed up to solve.
In the end, other parts of the organization create their loopholes and workarounds whenever possible.
This is an area where we should be spending money on consultancy (since Daddy’s all over it lately)
Can't agree more. It's a bit embarrassing to work with some of these buyers. Who is hiring these people? Of course there are some good people in the group but many don't have any clue about the things they are being asked to procure. I suspect it is a top down issue. Overhaul the group by replacing everyone from VP down to manager level. More selectively hire buyers with actual experience within the pipeline industry negotiating pricing and terms with vendors and people who have experience with strategic sourcing of materials and equipment. Add value for God's sake instead of being a glorified Oracle PO issuer. Many can barely get that right. I find it often saves more time if I get quotes on my own and just tell the buyers to issue a PO with a set of very specific instructions after I've done the up front negotiating and bid evaluation legwork with vendors directly.
They will be weeded out because they slow down the business and cost money.
Seems like the heads are fluffing for job security.
Lots of lazy people who pretends they’re always busy. If you wanna look for efficiency take a look further on the repetitive tasks coz they have those on the buying side and it’s a good candidate for outsourcing. If the service level is low might as well outsource it for cheap as long as you can set up workflow and controls as these are work releases against already setup master agreements.
The leadership got fooled into thinking that the service center is an overloaded area despite so many buyers already. There are a lot of wasted time on non work related tasks here. These folks don’t really use a lot of brain power on repetitive tasks and very few of them can actually do an actual vendor negotiations.
