Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

We are about to lose a S#$@! load of talent

Mo,
You are about to lose some of the best talent at Nike after the last 2 waves, you know for the most part these weren't done thoughtfully. A bain spreadsheet exercise with only a very few who have signed up to the NDA is not going to cut it. BUt you had to do what you had to do.

Now, your attention should be: how do we keep the good ones we have left (btw, don't be naive, you got rid of some amazing talent because you didn't do this the right way). Remember what you are working against - you have not created an environment that makes us want to stay. Your email on extended parental leave benefit was not timed right along with the Summer Fridays. Summer fridays is the LAST thing this company needs. We need to work to turn this ship around....

They are all completely tone deaf, clueless and do not give a thought as to what those who stayed are going through. Nike leadership in HR is a joke.

A number of us impacted in PS. Next week I see three leaders in Singapore. 1 of them a PM who is a month in PS who has never done any work, sharing pics of partying, eating out, traveling business class. She is never at work in WHQ. Very little work on travel is what I heard from locals. Mo, look at how money is spent in your org especially within PS.

Shout out to the people downvoting the post from a retail worker jealous of getting Fridays off. Some corporate people need to exit their bubble and they realize that layoffs happen all the time on the retail side. In fact during Covid some Nike retail workers were laid off from life itself when they were forced back into stores and they couldn’t tell customers to wear masks. Not all of us had the safety of working from home.

Rolling out extended parental leave after exiting people who were on parental leave the week before. MM truly cares.

As someone who works retail, Summer Fridays must be nice since we have to work five days a week including weekends. Even before summer Fridays, it’s rare to get anything I need from corporate on a Friday.

SEC is about to destroy my summer. July 4th has already been cancelled for my team and we’ve been told to be ready for overtime.

Early Summer Fridays are the only reason I’m still here.

Let's be real, Summer Fridays was already happening, with or without it being official. Why wouldn't Nike take the PR "win" and make it official. They lose nothing
