Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Don’t let them fool you

It amazes me at how this company thinks they can fool people by saying “you asked we listened” in regards to FTOWs getting 401k as if they’re making it sound like after all these years all full timers will finally get a 401k effective in October meanwhile in reality all full timers had 401k that they took away from them in 2019 and all they’re doing is giving it back. I guess those who just started unless someone who was around before 2019 told them might be tricked into thinking they’re doing something good for them but anyone who was around on or before 2019 knows that all they’re doing is giving back what they once slashed.

They also like to think that people are stupid as if everyone who starts off with this company will stay here for the rest of their lives until they can start taking out of their 401k with a cr-ppy rate of pay and a workload that’s beyond unbearable. The only reason why so many people don’t do a good job is because they don’t give us enough time to. A job role that was once pay out the order, work backstock and build displays turned into pack out the order, write the order, go through the backstock, write the credits all while no increase in pay with the added responsibilities. I live in one of the most expensive parts of the US where minimum wage is $16 an hour and I make $20 an hour as a FTOW and I feel like I make less than minimum wage with all the added responsibilities they put on us. So much for a cr-ppy paycheck not to mention with the amount they take out in taxes and benefits my take home is barely $600. Except for those who have been working here forever as a full timer and are getting close to the 401k age(59 and a half) i can’t see too many people sticking around and making this a career. They’ll work this job for maybe less than a year maybe a couple of years than they’ll find something that pays better and is less overwhelming. This company obviously doesn’t know that people aren’t stupid as they think they are.

And there’s no ability to advance you’re stuck in the position you’re hired in or the position you’re currently in as we speak. They probably will be layoffs in the near future. In some parts of the country sales reps and RMS no longer exist they have evolved into a new position called Retail Territory Manager(RTM) where sales reps and RMS’s were placed into this role which is pretty much a cross bread between sales rep and RMS. It’s basically a sales rep with an even bigger territory that directly manages the 5-10 part timers and full timers that work under him/her which means they are in charge of scheduling, hiring, coaching, writing people up if they’re not doing the right thing and anything else an RMS has except the territory is smaller than that of an RMS but larger than that of a sales rep and they report to the DM just like the sales reps do. It’s ultimately a sales reps worst nightmare but a bit of a break for an RMS. This role doesn’t currently exist in my area we still have reps and 2 RMS’s but I’m sure it’s coming in the very near future. My guess as to why this role exists in certain areas but doesn’t in others is probably because in some parts of the country a whole bunch of sales reps and RMS’s left the company because they had enough so they took what was left and consolidated it into this new role which I’m sure at some point will be rolled out across the board and is probably being slowly rolled out as we speak. In Q3 and Q4 of this year it’ll probably be rolled out to more areas it’ll just be a matter of who stays on board but my guess is that come early 2025 this position will be rolled out everywhere it hadn’t already been so and reps and RMS’s will be offered packages with some being placed in this new role. As far as staying in DSD is concerned I can’t forecast I’m not a weatherman but what I can say is the good days of DSD are over. Yes it’s possible that we could still be in DSD in 2030 or even later but it wont be a good DSD company to work for it’ll be like how it is now possibly worse. But on a personal note I think this new system and the fact that they continue to push it further despite that it doesn’t work will eventually drag this company down as a whole and DSD will eventually be gone.

As predicted by so many of the store managers and grocery head guys whom I've encountered, the merchandising and sales rep duties will be taken over by immigrants and anyone that has minimal work related experience.

They took away 401k from the new hires because they gave the pension employees an extra 4.5% (9% total) but now that they are getting rid of the reps they can now give the new hires the 4.5 match

Yup. This structure is just a last ditch effort before leaving dsd. If it works then they'll stay but it's not working...
