Thread regarding Pioneer Natural Resources Co. layoffs

I am one of the people who got offer

Just know one thing. VPs and EVPs sc--wed us over. They sold the company for profit of their own. Employees will get mediocre offers from XOM and there is nothing you cna do about it. Even if you accept assuming it was good they will revise it next year. Remember this and remember well, XOM will not pay PXD employees more than their own. If you can find some other jobs at good pay take it and don't look back.

XOM didn't really want you, but they had to have you, so use them to spruce up your resume. Consulting firms, finance, private equity, etc. would love to hire someone who created value in a company bought by Exxon, led integration projects through the acquisition, and can bring that institutional knowledge

XOM is a terrible place to work. They began tracking when you badge in or out. Whether or not you are logged in or not. How long you spend at lunch or gym. Your manager keeps these tabs. Not to mention the toxic culture of work itself. I'm not sure but I doubt Pioneer is like this.

@1lxe+1srAEGdB 75% of employees in the US are considered at will. Every employer can axe you on a whim. And reduce pay. Ain’t nothing new here. Nobody is forced to give you a raise. Heck PXD didn’t give out raises before when times were tough. All contracts are yearly, at every job unless you’re union.

I feel like you people are all extremely insulated from the reality of real jobs in the world.

If you move to Houston, have a backup plan. Pivot to another of the 1000 oil or investment banking companies HQd there. Pretty simple.

No idea what you're on about, I don't see people climbing over one another for offers. Like 90% of the people I've talked to around here are not even considering accepting an offer.

XOM employee here. HR can reduce your salary or give you zero raises for like a decade. Also, it’s a one year contract due to the annual ranking / layoff system. Our health benefits are also being downgraded January 2025. No, I’m not trying to scare anyone for malicious reasons… just trying to help. If I were deciding to move my family or not, I’d want to know too.

Just grab your popcorn and watch how PXD employees will f43k each other over to get an Exxon offer. Instead of showing unity you all ready to sh1t on each other.

OP- “Even if you accept assuming it was good they will revise it next year.”

OP clearly is not one that got an offer & just clearly stirring the pot.

Then just take the severance and leave. If they try to make you take a reduction in comp it triggers good reason to get the severance.
