Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Did you ever try to take initiative at T?

I did it once and never again. Management here doesn't want to hear ideas, even if they're guaranteed to save time and money. They like how things are done right now and don't you dare try to change it. We're literally losing money by sticking to the old way but nobody seems to care. So I stopped caring as well.

I did many times. It was listened to by leadership and acted upon. I got recognition monetary and non monetory each time. However no promotion but all peers got promoted. Apart from race being a possible issue, I can’t think of anything else.

I did. My team lead took the credit. Project was so good he hired 20 people offshore and laid me off. Standard operating procedure.

I did, I was naive and young. Until I got passed on over for a promotion and having told to train my new boss thats where they crossed the line. I am not training my new boss. They can fire me, I dont care at this point, it is not my job to train a boss higher level than me. I dared them. They didnt do anything. Boss got trained by another s….u..cker.

At T there are no merit based promotions. Promotions are based on needs of the company, that’s it. Best way is to use that win as leverage when applying for an open position.

“I did until it became an additional job for which I ended up getting nothing for--not even the credit.”

This entirely has been my experience. Not even an ataboy. The cost savings I’ve done for this place is in the hundreds of millions - documented by auditing/analytics team. I never got a thing. Not even a good job, a SEA, extra bonus, nothing. Only way they care is if it’s some arbitrary sales increase (which I’ve seen those folks get big bonuses and promotions for minimal gains), that’s all they care about. Nope, not doing it any more.

Innovation is only encouraged if your L4+ can take all the credit.

They don’t want ingenuity, they want conformity.
