Thread regarding Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. layoffs

Recent layoffs

Last week there were several more layoffs with PPD/Thermofisher. The main reason? In my humble opinion, corporate greed. We just had a meeting the week before in which we were informed we had such a good first quarter. They simply want to do what they can to please the client while not caring about the loyalty of their employees, when they can transfer the work to certain other countries that have a lower cost of living. It's not our fault that it costs a lot to live in the US. In certain other developed countries, it's illegal to do what ThermoFisher and so many other corporations have done. Corporate America does nothing to really reward loyal employees. We are just a number.

Not only that, but those insurance policies (life, accidental, injury, and medical they either pay for you or con yiu into paying full.cost yourself, these are bonds they get to redeem at maturity or if they are pulled early. So that they are making profitable investments directly on your life and wellbeing.

Terrible downward spiral of management. Current leadership is absolutely not interested in actual work quality, just in superficial optics. Everyone is constantly jockeying for attention of leadership in a desperate wish to impress with show, not substance. High-caliber experienced researchers fired to make way for clueless but cheaper newbies. Focus shifted from genuine R&D to cheap hired labor (contract research). Was just laid off after almost 20 years, and my primary feeling is that I'm sooooooo glad I don't have to wade through that swamp any more! Here's to a better life outside Thermo!

TFS is outsourcing IT and Finance jobs all the time. It won't be long before all the Corporate jobs are outsourced, except for the VPs who make $400k-$500k + bonus a year.

They will sell us up a river for a few more bucks.

“What day of the week” “what are the warning signs”
The signs are the economy isn’t booming and they only made a few billion not tons of billions. Theres layoffs across all CROs it can happen literally at any time. It was across multiple departments. Mostly non-billable roles but also included some site payment folks, stats people, etc.

What day of the week do they happen and what’re the warning signs?

Any info is appreciated…

The c-suite at American companies in particular take for granted what they have in the US... a civil society. But that has already started to break down as people have a harder time finding economic opportunities these days that allow them to take care of their families (providing food, shelter, education, medical care, etc...). I mean, King Louis XVI did not build his own guillotine and put his head in it. Someone did that for him
