Given the dismal guidance for earnings, and clear indication of employees reduction, what is the % reduction we are expecting now ?

Considering this is the only place we can actually get information, I say share as much as you can. The lack of communication is disheartening.
Why is it bad to mention which org/group is laying people off? Clearly Rockwell doesn’t give af.
Are you laid off today, what is your role manager or developer/engineer?
I got laid off as well, cant say which group, but I am remote making Good money
Anyone in software & control got laid off?
Mequon started at 7:00AM CST. Project Gold people (ROK’s future) got laid off. Makes no sense.
God bless us, everyone!
Seems like they are going after higher cost remote workers with only a few years at Rockwell so they don’t have to pay much severance (6 weeks is pathetic). They are keeping the old timers and the most junior people. What could go wrong there.

For anyone who cares to watch and see what options actual leaders take during hard times but no one in Rockwell has stones to post to Epoch I’m sure, very happy I’m long gone! Lol
Everyone knows it won't be US only, there's WAY too many headcount in Poland right now, many overlapping roles and many, many full remote workers, but US workers, especially hourly are variable expenses that simply cannot be maintained under these harsh conditions, its critical to maintain quarterly earnings for the betterment of the company.
What will be a shame is how many fully remote people this company has given up so much productivity to, who are almost never available to actually get product out the door, who even tracks what they actually do, but then those of us who've been in the plants actually making product get booted to save money - I've never encountered an IT, HR, Finance or even some engineering roles who've ever set foot in a Rockwell facility, then don't show up to meetings, don't pull their share of the load - boot every single full remote worker and it would take care of shortfalls for the next 5 years!
How about Milwaukee HQ? Anyone take the hit there, yet?
Blake said 3%, could probably be closer to 5%, simple math - 800-1000 people in total, but anyone saying their team has been cut, this is not part of the actions that took place over the past couple weeks/month - this is on top of that, pay attention to earning's calls - they tell volumes!
It was 20-25% of my small team. Good luck to all of us.
I’m in Mequon. No signs of cuts yet. Probably will happen Thursday.
Milwaukee Development was axed on Monday. Today, Tuesday was Canada. I heard Mequon will be Thursday, but wouldn’t be surprised if they did it tomorrow, Wednesday.
Looks like they are going after the role employees. Which group were you in?
The process is simple, impersonal, and quick.
1:1 with the manager’s manager and HR manager. IT logs you out a few minutes after. I have been working 90% remote for the past 3 years.
Handling hiring, firing, and layoffs with sensitivity and professionalism is indeed crucial for maintaining a positive workplace culture and employee morale. While these decisions are often necessary for the health of the business, they should always be carried out with empathy and respect for the individuals involved.
The approach you've described, where layoffs are executed gradually over several days and seemingly coupled with a mandate to return to the office, could understandably create anxiety and fear among remaining employees. It's essential for companies to communicate transparently with their staff during times of transition and change, providing clear explanations for the decisions being made and offering support wherever possible.
Hi Blake Moret, FU-K YOU! The people that get things done have to pay the price for your management teams bad decisions and short term thinking.
To clarify one comment I saw about merit increases (or reframe the perspective), there is no merit increase for 2024 that normally would have taken effect January 1st 2024, although some hourly workers got an increase in January. For the merit increase that would normally be staring January 2025, they say they are pulling that forward to October 2024, but I'll believe when I see it (assuming I'm still around by then).
Remember kids, use your floaters first because you only get compensated for "real" vacation days if you're let go.
for severance, in the USA, it is typically 1 week of pay for every year worked with a max of 23 weeks of pay and if your lucky, an additional 2 weeks if you are walked out right away.
When it comes to testing, there's a saying in tech support, "built by Rockwell, tested by our customers" because of all the half-baked product pushed out to get sales.
Thanks! Are you relieved that you now have a closure? I mean ever since the news f impending layoffs came about, everyone has been on he edge. Will there be further layoffs in this week ? I mean this is anxiety inducing. Sorry about bombarding you with questions, but I feel you took it like a man and hence the leniency
Process was simple, boss’s boss scheduled a 1:1 then HR person randomly joined the call to walk through the process. I am not sure how they calculated the severance, they only told me 6 weeks. 10 mins after the call I was auto-logged out of my computer and that’s all. Later my boss called me and said he was surprised my name was on the list.
Sorry about that - If you dont mind, can you tell us how the layoff process was. Is the severance calculated as 2 weeks pay / year? Why are the layoffs spread around and done on random days?
I just got laid off from the software and control group — management role. I was fully remote with “exceeding performance” rating for the past 3 years. I am eligible to rehire since it was not performance related. 6 weeks of severance. Oh well. Onward to better things. Best of luck to all of you!
Talk earlier in the year was about how they could reduce testing in order to get product out to the field quicker . Don’t be surprised if testing takes a hit . Corporate greed .
Interesting how there was no mention of a pay cut to help get through this current downturn. That as been the norm over the past 15+ years. That should tell you how bad they see this situation currently. Moving straight to the reduction in force.
My guess … Most of the affected workforce comes high labour cost areas such as from US and Canada. The emphasis of the RIF will be on Canada/ US “remote/wfh” positions. The positions are the easiest to cut&outsource to “lesser“ labour cost locations.
Oh well, I joined Rockwell a year ago not knowing the company is so old and arcane in the way it operates. If they fire me, I dont think I'd be fully disappointed. All I need to know how does the severance package look like? Pretty sure they will cheap out there as well?
"Wonder when they will drop the axe? This week?"
Thats another horrible thing to do. Keep people in the dark without giving them a closure. People will be angry and disappointed after they get laid off, but they will move on to find another job. Just to keep them guessing and counting the number of days they have is just cruel.
I am hoping that they will be done with this by May, but my gut says its gonna be a long, drawn out process.
Wonder when they will drop the axe? This week?
So basically if you are not sh-t-canned, you have no raise for almost 2 years. Way to boost morale, go RA!
True. Many silent layoffs beforehand and have seen this happen. Also see a sharp increase in contractors working on major projects for YEARS over the past week. 3% is strictly from this announced action and is not inclusive of contractors which are considered direct expense. It is about to get BAD. Also, the 2023 merit increase has been cancelled with the 2024 merit increase being moved to October.
Overall picture looks apocalyptic - I heard that there have been silent layoffs all over the company even before this announcement . So, the 3% figure doesnt include those sporadic, random layoffs either. What is going on here? How can we come to this position overnight?
I believe it's more than 3 percent. The majority of the positions being eliminated are contractors, who aren't included in the 3 percent figure. Additionally, I think the main reason these companies are laying off employees is because they want them back in the office, and they're using this as a way to push them away a little
Dont understand the concept of announcing the "impending" layoffs - if I were to do it, I would do it in one single blow. Why the anxiety inducing wait? Now, we have to compete more, backstab co-workers, all while damaging our healths with anxiety.
Any idea on where the 3% reductions would be (location and parts of the business)?
In Europe we are waiting for the hammer to drop, as we know if we are to be impacted it will be with consultations and takes a bit longer…still, nice to know as soon as possible.
Any talk on severance offered being generous or stingy?
