I attended a meeting last week with L2 Supervisors and L3s, discussing HWWW policies and questions (the whole slide deck was released for people to share with teams). Questions were asked about performance and how certain groups are seeing a decline in the number of team members in the office. The response was, "Performance issues will be worked out down the line; we just need employees in the office right now."
They literally care more about the seat your butt is in, then the work you are doing right now.
