A large number of people of color were impacted in my ex-group. Curious, was it just in my group or was it company wide? POC have literally been wiped out in the group I used to work in...

HR pushed us to hire certain people over others even when there where broad experience gaps.
I get it, how else do you create a diverse workforce if you don't bring in people with different backgrounds and experiences who haven't been represented before.
But we've ended up with a few cases where the person hired just didn't have the ability to do the job and became a burden to the team.
I’m really glad to hear a lot of white men over 40 were laid off. You complain so much, maybe some honest work finding a real job will do you good and build some character.
We're all better off with less Didn't Earn It hires to have to interact with.
No. It was a spreadsheet. I am white and all of my white colleagues were laid off. Finally, equality 😞
gossips....
My group was the opposite, 80% were white men over 40.
boo hoo
I just want to interview and hire people based on their skills and value, not because they were born with a certain color skin, or a select set of genitalia.
Don't let me see a picture, location, or a name. Let me base my judgment on their skill. I don't give a fu-k if you're black, green, or a hermaphrodite.
But no, Nike will make you interview someone that you normally wouldn't have entertained, just because Nike needs to check a box saying "we interviewed a minority."
Thanks to JS and the awful head of TA Nike way overspent on DEI recruiting initiatives and didn’t focus on the right outcomes. Hiring top talent from underrepresented group should have been the focus, but it wasn’t. Now it is all being course corrected, as we were not focused on hiring for skills and ability, but rather checking boxes. No disrespect to the incredible BIPOC talent, but rather a statement around how ineffective the DEI initiatives are at Nike. The current head of DEI is also a joke. It will be fascinating to look at the demographic data post layoffs. Typical fashion, though, I’m sure they will cover up.
Just laid off white middle aged man here 🙋.
If you include us with our fellow laid off POCs, LGBTQIA+er, Latin-Xers, BIPOCS and BAMES, MENA’s, AAPIers then I think we’ll make a good diverse crew.
The sun went down on me earlier than I expected! Is this racism?
You folks that are bringing race and s-x into this - you're playing victim. Plenty of white men were released. Do you think they were singled out because of their pe--ses or the fact that their skin was too white? Nah.
Why do some minority groups always default to thinking some kind of mistreatment was due to skin color or gender, and rarely consider that it may have nothing to do with either?
"No Billy, I don't dislike you because you're Trans and black. I disliked you because you're an a--hole to people you meet and your work quality svcks, but go ahead and shout 'discrimination'".
We lost a good number of women who did all the work. Now the men are bi--hing they have too much on their plates.
People of all colors were affected. This doesn't seem like it had anything to do with it, unless you're reaching, or searching for victimhood.
Well, when a company decides to eliminate made-up roles that were created expressly to staff dei hires...this was bound to happen. Oh well
my group was the opposite.
Why are we bringing race into this? Maybe you just su-ked at your job? If anything, Nike overextends to make sure they hit aggressive DEI targets, protecting horrible talent that is of color.
So much for DEI!
...and that's a good thing.
Might be good to check Latinos as well….
