Thread regarding IBM layoffs

We can’t have a company we acquired continue to run things as though we don’t exist.
It’s an absolute mess when you have managers whose sole job is to conduct skip level meetings (well, they also have to travel but that’s perks when you have made it).

But honestly, why have so many management layers with no real contribution?
Why are there job cuts but no flattening of the layers?

It sounds like IBM has gone back to the future (too many chiefs and not enough (American) Indians). Lots of executives protecting themselves, not contributing in any way. In order to preserve cash flow they have to get rid of staff, which wrecks the business and puts more pressure on them to raise cash blah blah blah.
