Today's purpose corner just reiterates that senior leadership does not care about the employees. We all know this 4 day a week requirement has nothing to do with collaboration but instead is around tax breaks and commercial real estate.
Therefore I plan to do the following starting immediately.
- Work far far less in the office than I do at home, I will be spending a lot of time away from my desk in order to maximize collaboration opportunities.
- I will not be spending a single $ in the city I have to travel to. Yes, I'll have to pay for parking which I can't avoid.
- When possible I'll be leaving as soon as I can after getting my badge swipe.
- I'll be looking elsewhere for a position.
#1 will ruin any comparison to show in office is more productive than WFH, not that there is any proof of that so far anyway.
#2 will impact the cities trying to force the RTO.
I know that #3 and #4 are not possible for everyone and I know that the costs for many go beyond just gas and parking, not to mention the time cost. I believe #1 and #2 are open to all. The only thing corporations understand is money and therefore the above will hit them where it hurts.
