Will this "pilot" come to an end? Remote people given a choice to RTO or take severance?

I tried the RTO thing out for awhile to see if they were bluffing. They were not. They could not provide a reasonable justification for me to be in office... but still required it... so I left. I now work remotely and got a healthy raise to boot. Might have missed out on severance but still feel like I dodged a bullet. Pretty sure my career and bank account would have stagnated if I had made the move to beaverton for rto and stuck it out.
If you are on Remote assignment, but few or nobody else on your team is, there is probably a much greater likelihood of being asked to either RTO or get let go.
The talent pool is limited to people that are in PDX or willing to move to PDX. That’s why remote is a thing for some IC roles that would be impossible to fill otherwise.
If Nike wants to remain competitive, some remote work is necessary. Unique talent will go to the companies that offer remote work.
remote worker here that got laid off. but other remote teammates in my org were kept. not sure what that means in the future for them.
Some roles can be done remote which I think some teams will still have remote employees.
I was remote and laid off along with several other remote people on my team. Shortsighted, outdated and old school approach with RTO. Loads of people will leave and find remote work elsewhere.
The pilot ended a year ago, and they converted all of the jobs on the pilot to remote jobs. For a while, for new positions, you had to post them as in-person for 3 months before you were allowed to post them as remote (and not get enough responses). Some departments were able to bend the rules on that one (cough* Finance *cough HR).
There is zero chance they will rescind all of the remote jobs. The most likely way for those grandfathered positions to go away is for forced laterals into positions that aren't remote for some, but they would lose way too many difficult to hire workers (like myself) if they tried to force everyone to return. There are maybe 50 people in the world with my qualifications, and finding another job isn't difficult, but I'm paid enough and able to work remotely. Take either of those things away and I'm gone.
Sorry you (we) were all lied to by MM and the ELT.
It was only called a pilot so people wouldn’t think it was permanent. Nike is still posting and hiring for full time remote jobs. Fight for everyone to have the opportunity, not for it to be taken away.
I haven’t heard? I doubt they will be given severance or RTO?
