Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Change, change, change. We get it. Are we going to have a job? Toxic boss has me feeling that I’m no longer “a right fit”, “should consider if I can so the job”. The same job I’ve been successfully doing for over 10 years and growing, promoting Humana’s values. Not feeling the Humana values are really valued. I don’t want to leave. Close to retirement. How do I stay in my role? Googling how to work with a toxic boss.

Trust me when I tell you this: HR is there to protect the company and upper management. They are not there to assist employees. I have first hand experience with this in Humana and another large organization.

I’ve experienced the hyper-monitoring recently when I’ve had YEARS of positive reviews and flawless audits. “Workforce Management” (or RoboCops as I call them) have totally changed the culture, and not in a good way. Also my manager is a tool, so there’s that.

I sure do hope that our fearless Clin Ops leader is aware of how rotten some of the leaders in this organization are. My guess is some of those being bullied, gaslighted and ran off might just be documenting and recording their experiences for legal action down the line!

It is dog eat dog right now. My boss has been acting strange and what used to be a good environment is toxic. Stay focused on your role and if possible start looking for a new role. I would also report to HR. No one should have to put up with an extremely toxic person at work no matter their level. Most top leaders would not approve of this type of behavior. If they don't know they cannot help make the change for the better. Never be afraid to stand up for yourself and what is right! Stay true to yourself and what is right. Never allow anyone to make you feel inferior. People think their titles make them some sort of god or untouchable employee. But at the end of the day we are all the same except some have more money in their pocket for being an A$$ and get away with it because no one will speak up.

I am hearing lots of people that have worked at Humana for years and always had good reviews are now having their work dissected and criticized. Seems like Humana wants to fire us or force resignation. They wouldn’t have to pay severance or unemployment would they? Toxic all the way.

I know you want to stay at Humana, because you’re close to retirement, but better jobs are out there. You can always roll over your 401k to your new job. Yes, I know allowing your toxic boss to “win” by leaving, isn’t always the easy choice, but you’re worthy of being treated with respect, you deserve to be supported, and you deserve to have a boss who will encourage you and others. I agree with the other commenters, that it’s time to polish up that resume and start applying for another job, outside of Humana. You’ve worked here for 10 years, so understandably, starting a new job will be scary and uncomfortable, but it’s time to go.

HR will not back you but your manager will then likely target you for going to them. I had hands down the most toxic work environment ever in my career while at Humana and it made me physically ill. Hearing these stories more and more. It doesn’t seem to be a very healthy place for employees anymore. The micromanagement is not normal for a professional with a license to work in.
