If your team was affected, I can guarantee you that you'll be expected to do the work that was done by your laid-off coworkers. This will be true even if you're already overloaded with your own work. Don't do it.
Even if you do it just once because your manager is asking you "to be a team player and help out," it will become a part of your expected duties. You will sc--w yourself over for good. Stay busy and keep saying you're busy with important things. Tell the others on your team to do the same. Don't let them redistribute extra work for no reward. Don't let them get away with the same cr-p once again.
