New twist on this round of layoffs

Not only was there the “you’re getting a demotion and/or moving to a new team—take it or leave it” (although at least they provided severance if you took option B)

New twist: “Hey employee, we.re going to lay you off in a few months, but feel free to keep working because if you leave, you get nothing”.

What in the literal HE// is going on? Why is this OK, and what work quality do they think they will get out of these people? Mind boggling…

NOT EMEA—at WHQ. Believe it’s tied tibSEC program, but could be other reasons. Olympics maybe?

If this is the case in EMEA, it's because of the strong labor laws. Employees are given a notice period of 1 calendar month, as a minimum. The idea behind it is for you to find a new job.

Now, you can do whatever the heck you want within that period. A lot of people are requesting FTO until then!

Are you talking about the EMEA layoffs? They have to give advance notice but they keep their job. Just how it works over there.

If that was me I would have assumed the company had just given me a 60-day paid vacation. Because the chances of getting any work out of me after that notice would have been between “zero” and “zero”.
