If we think layoffs are bad now.. Just wait until AI really takes hold.. The greed to pocket even more and bring in AI to do the vast majority of our jobs 24 hrs a day, no health insurance needed, no PTO needed.. none of that.. We’ll all need universal income soon enough.

None of you understand AI well and are basically writing a scifi novel.
Today’s generative algorithms are good at making a flood of mediocre content. End of story. They’re not smart, they can’t think, they can’t even tell you what 2+2 is because they’re not “AI” just your old predictive keyboard on steroids.
Engineers have been able to use Copilot for more than a year now and its team is still begging people to use the tech. It turns out we pay people to think, not type brainlessly faster than anyone else.
Artists are sc--wed. Novelists are fine. SEO pumping blog writers have already adapted or went out of business. Governments faking grassroots movements on social media have never been happier.
That’s it. The internet we used to love is dead. Alongside anyone working in a content farm.
Ai is going to create more jobs than take. Then it will take the jobs. The problem right now is companies are cutting budgets across the place and if AI can’t guarantee reduction in staff TODAY and isn’t critical to function then there is a high likelihood hood AI will be tabled for a few years. Then when it comes back the company will more than likely have to spend to get the data all correct. Also, I understand how powerful AI is on an individual level but it seems people are having a hard time scaling this , harnessing the power to be effective fo-e companies. But it’s coming.
Some of those AI generated shoes look like a computer took a dump after eating a bowl of neon green Jello
I just read that the layoffs impacted our AI team. While I’m sure AI will have some impact on jobs, I’ve also read that it will create even more jobs and opportunities. Humans will work alongside this technology. It’s not all doom and gloom. It will just be different than today. Meanwhile, enjoy today.
Also beware of the intentions of others scaring you. What’s their angle? Politics? Bigotry? Fear? Greed?

The ‘good’ news is that Nike doesn’t even allow us to use AI tools unless you get a special authorization, fearing that companies will steal our knowledge. It is like not allowing employees to use email in the late 90s or not adopting cloud. We are way behind and by the time we can use AI in our day to day our competitors will be way ahead.
It's almost comical. By the time Nike is ready to adopt more advanced technologies, most of us might be considering retirement—even those of us who are still young. Given the prevailing lack of advanced technical acumen among the engineers and the general workforce, I'm not particularly concerned.
If I’m being honest at least 50% of my job could be done by a decently trained AI. There’s a small portion of my job that definitely requires a human touch. That’s the problem. It’s a small portion. There are also seven people who do my job. Do the math. A good AI could cause at least half of us to be redundant. Won’t happen tomorrow but I expect it will happen some day in the not distant future.
Understand everyone here got laid off but y’all need to get some fresh air and stop thinking 5 years ahead into the future.
Old man yelling at clouds vibe up in here
Consumers hardly matter anymore, easily seen from stock valuations in the stock market. Apple, Tesla, and others with wildly inflated market caps which are detached from any sales figure or reality.
Then there will be a revolution and the capitalist kings will be guillotined. Who will protect them from the hungry masses? More likely we will end up with socialist state with guaranteed income once unemployment reaches high levels.. The French did this back in the day. Off with their heads. And now they have a socialist state with nice benefits and high taxes on rich and worker rights. Add some good food and wine to placate the masses.
We’re long past the days of Henry Ford my man
With no jobs then no customers the companies go bankrupt. They have not considered that part. Will Ai buy the sneakers and other products? There is a reason Henry Ford paid his workers five dollars a day so that they could buy the products they made aka model t car. Thats the mass market. They aren’t very bright are they ?
Not just talking about Nike but yeah even Nike and hope you’re right.
The lucky ones are the people who get to retire “comfortably” in the next 2-5 years.
While some of the longer tenured people were unfortunately let go, I know there were some getting ready to retire anyway. It su-k’s they weren’t able to leave on their own terms but they’re still in a better position (hopefully) than a lot of us who still have 25+ years to go. :(
Wonder what universal basic income will be? 🤔
Haha. Cause Nike is a cutting edge tech company! 10yrs away easy.
Yup.. This is what we really need to plan for whether we want to or not
There are groups from major tech companies already being established to discuss what happens to humans in the future with no jobs.
Start paying attention.. Ya hear
