Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

ETWs sitting waiting in the dark with zero official comms since the WFH email.

While this layoff's major victims were FTEs it's worth mentioning that there has been zero official communication from Nike HR/Sr Leadership to ETWs. Teams across my team's org haven't even had official comms from our VPs. The only news we have gotten is by piecing together the hints our FTE teammates have been gracious to share, via group texts.

Yes, we know we agree to paltry benefits and some of us chase the carrot of a black badge but in the end most of us are full-time, multi-year veterans of Nike who live the teams we work with and the work that we do. We work alongside our FTE teammates serving crucial pieces of the business. We are your friends and colleagues mourning the loss of some of you, the reshaping of our orgs, and continued purgatory as we await our own fate until end of June.

Even our contractor leadership has heard zilch from Nike. So to be treated like this has been abhorrent, and humiliating.

before someone rolls up in here with a lecture about how ETW's are disposable, ETWs are mere chattel, and ETWs signed up to be treated this way and thus we deserve it and we should be excited to even l*ck the soles of your AF1s....

WE KNOW. don't waste your breath. trust me, we know. we are reminded on a daily basis that we are 2nd class citizens.

many of us love the work, and love our teammates, and are held to the same expectations as black badges without the same protections, benefits and opportunities. so give us a break with the lectures please.

The ETW purge has already begun. I’m hearing from multiple fellow ETWs that they were just notified that their contracts will not be renewed and their exit date is set for 5/31. I doubt that I will have a job in June, but I haven’t been notified as such yet. Most/all of us get no severance when this happens, and nor do we get the full benefit of Nike on the resume. Please be kind to each other, regardless of badge color. We’re all people, and whoever is left will find out just how much ETWs were contributing to the company/work regardless of us “not being Nike employees”

Manager here. I was told our team will not renewing ETWs and plan to get rid of the existing ones soon. I was also advised to keep my mouth shut. Tried to warn a few of them by asking "hey are you looking for full time position?" Not sure if they got the hint though

ETW here. Every time they do these reorgs, they mess up so much sh-t, they always need us later. I'm billing from home this week, working, and petting my cat like Dr. evil.

My company just won a contract in NAO and the rates are insanely low to the point we will be operating at a loss. Leadership is talking about moving us to different clients and subcontracting the work to lower our costs in order to adhere to the new rate card.

As a Nike FTE, I feel bad for you ETWs. At least FTEs got severance. I work in Procurement and you all are going to be sla-ghtered over the next couple of months and obviously will get not severance. Everything is in the process of being offshored, nearshored. If you work for a small local company bye bye.

I’m mainly upset because the WorkVivo FAQ explicitly called out that they plan to end/amend a lot of the ETW contracts, yet we’ve heard nothing more.

Also, though I would expect from Nike corporate, even my immediate team has made no effort to update me. They keep telling us ETWs that they will keep us in the loop but we’ve received nothing.

A lot of the restructuring will have an immediate impact on my work, and I’m left wondering what my job will look like next week. Let alone, if I’ll even be able to work through the intended duration of my contract. It makes me feel pretty stressed and under-valued as a worker.

It's not just ETWs, most FTEs are also in the dark. There has been little to no comms.

@uki what's your point? OP said nothing about ETW being employees of Nike.

ETW's are next. Management already have a strike list. They've been directed to offshore ETWs.

ETWs will be hit hard before the end of the calendar year. Procurement is renegotiating all rate cards right now and planning on significantly reducing rates and rationalize a large portion of vendors across the enterprise. Even if your company is safe, they are going to lower rates to the point where existing etw labor is going to be unprofitable, so expect to get shifted out even if your company survives rationalization.

Mo-o, you have silvery hair and you went to school like a zillion years ago. Far worse than. 18 yr experienced youngsters here. In our opinion, you silvery haired geriatric a--holes have no place in the company, let alone at the helm. Please fu--ing leave JD! You are imbecile and mo--nic at best for today and you are so irrelevant for today…

Downvotes on a post about ETWs being treated poorly on a forum where everyone is bi--hing about being treated poorly by the same leadership are ridiculous.
