Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

We’re remote workers targeted?

I’ve heard a few rumors that remote employees were potentially more likely to get cut. They let me go and I’m remote, and everyone on my team that was let go was remote as well. But I don’t have any insight on other orgs. Thoughts?

I am sure remote workers were target as just another reason. They pay large amounts of money to maintain these offices and with not many in there, this forces everybody to go back.
I feel for you all, totally not fair and it just goes to show, when things get rough for Nike, the leadership crumbled and you all suffered.

I was hired to be in the pilot for 100% remote work. I was let go, and I live 3 hrs away from headquarters. They don’t care about any of us. If they did, they wouldn’t have handled this like they have. Anyways, ADIDAS IM READY!

You’re looking for the wrong pattern. With the pending shift in the product model TPM’s were overrepresented in phase 2, with many of those working remote. They were let go to enable org transformation, not because they’re remote

Anyone whining about getting their remote work revoked didn't read the fine print. Nike never made any long term promises that would stay in place indefinitely. A person would have to have a SUPER unique skillset to leverage keeping their remote work contract. Otherwise, its next man/women up.

I think it depends on where you are remote from. if it is a high COL city then it seems like they were let go. NY, LA, Bay area etc.

I heard the remote work pilot is going to end. Badge in 4 times a week or exit the company.

Absolutely true...after I was so "strongly encouraged to accept the remote designation to help ensure proper baselining and pilot success" to where I felt there would be some form of retribution if I didn't...for all those who trashed the pilot people earlier there was actually fear involved. I was canned along with all other remotes on my team (35%) and all RTO remained. A total setup from the get go. Reprehensible

remote here also and I was let go. I know of at least 1 other remote person on my team that was also.

I only work with remote people within a few teams and all of them remain to date.

Most likely. They want to see people in their cubicles 5 days a week.
