Lateral move

Considering a lateral move due to the dissatisfaction with my current team. Is volunteering for a lateral move a good idea?

Nothing wrong with doing a stretch assignment in a lateral area if it will help broaden your overall knowledge.

If they’re asking for volunteers, in today’s environment, you need to ask yourself why they couldn’t find anyone laid off to volunteer for the role.

Better the devil you know than the one you don’t.

If you’re merely unhappy or miserable it’s probably a bigger risk than you think.
After having taken the leap & fell (4 times now) I’d only go through with it if I was on the verge of leaving the company without even having a new job lined up.

Laterals are great if you can do it in this environment. Career mobility is rarely a straight ladder

No, you look ungrateful that you were saved. 6 days in the office for you
