CEOs from Consulting firms do not know how to run companies with TANGIBLE PRODUCTS. Companies with INVENTORY. Consultants don't know how to innovate, they know how to create meetings and talk about timelines and status. Consultants can get you 90% of the way and then leave the job. They never figured out that last 10% on how to complete the job, that last 10% is harder than the first 100%. and that is where the growth is a person.
Could go on a full rant on consultants… (and Nike’s obsession of using consultants). I’ve been involved in multiple projects with consultants over the past few years and none of them have come up with anything insight or required anything less than daily handholding through the entire engagement. The number of true operators at the company who actually execute and can deliver value are drowned out by fancy presentations, slogans, and sales pitches
