Is there any reason to think severance wouldn't be the same as last year?

I think they are hoping a good number of people will quit on their own rather than go in office. Then they will sack people for non-compliance. If they don't get the head count down enough from those, they may increase the radius from the office and/or the number of days you have to be in office. Failing all of that, I would bet money there will be more layoffs.
To this post "I'm skeptical there won't be layoffs in addition to noncompliance terminations. If it didn't prevent the August layoffs when rto was enforced out east last year, why would this time be different?"
Why? Because they want you gone ASAP, you were on their list last year and had to make it look good because the largest group going is now! They lied as usual! They brought in the Heavy Hitters as a hit squad and we shall see how many people are gonna be Terminated for Cause very quickly.
Read the title, this is not about RTO compliance.
Ha ha, it’s funny you think there would be severance if you get terminated for not going in the office.

They will deem non-compliance not as a layoff but rather a termination due to insubordination of a direct order.
As in good luck getting unemployment without a fight (at least in RI you could qualify for UE if you were hired as fully remote)
I’d be shocked if they treated those employees who refuse as layoffs….
