Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

More layoffs?

Social worker here. Recently they moved a bunch of managers and combined teams. Then told us to stop getting licensed in new states. Thats all that they have been pushing since I was hired is to get licensed in as many states as possible and now stop. Immediately. Even the states I was in the middle of the process with. Anyone heard anything? I feel like the team is too big for one manager to maintain long term.

I don’t think they’re going to go offshore with the social work role

I suspect they are going to offshore more and more work, including case management. A social worker in a third world country makes 1/4 of what those in the US do.

I think it’s because they are not looking for contracts in those states, so it’s not needed. Social work is mandated by CMS, so those roles are pretty save, especially with the SDOH issues

6 months before I was laid off they moved over 100 associates under our manager. I think about a dozen people were retained. Many positions backfilled with offshore contractors.

SNP had nurses give up licenses (or not paid for renewal by Humana) in states that we may have gotten in other departments too. I’m sure it’s a cost savings thing.

They are definitely getting ready for more layoffs. The writing is on the war. I’m a Senior Workforce Management Professional. Our department ended several contracts with our vendors. They sent out an email asking for voluntary resignations, and if they don’t get enough people who volunteer, then RIF’s will soon follow.
