Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

WHQ/US Layoffs Phase 2.1? More people let go last week!

What gives? I know a few people that were let go this past week as part of the reorg. How many more phases will there be?

Seems like they are not hitting their $ savings so back to the chopping block.

They’re even trying to save even more money by not giving long standing Nike employees ‘any’ severance packages. Way to take care of your team Nike.

I wonder how many athlete* contracts you signed in the past 2 years that you could’ve held on to save some money for to at least take care of the people you unfairly decided to kick to the curb.

I was in HR, let go during phase 1 but HR was letting go of its people slowly but surely since early 2023.

companies are constantly letting people go as they are no longer needed outside of mass layoffs. it's not like they are going to keep someone on payroll for another 2-3 years until the next big layoff

There is always clean up reorg after the main reorgs. It’s usually smaller in nature maybe 3 or 4 cuts in a specific department.

If the post saying that those layed off are now being brought back “because they made a mistake “ is true, then of course others will be laid off to even the score.

So they tell the state that there will be 740 layoffs but then slide in a few couple 100 more after the fact. Way to not be truthful with your employees and stock holders. #ShadyBusinessPractices

Of course it’s going to continue, Nike is in trouble the stock is down in a bullish market. The brand has lost its way & there is zero plan to revive it. The chief clown promised $2B in cost reduction to save his job. Since Nike is a complete sht show operationally the only way to reduce cost is by firing you. The past 6 months has proven to all of us just how slimy & 2 faced Nike is. Under the radar firings will continue until they are forced to file a WARN. Until then find the biggest brown noser you know and bury your nose up their as to save yourself.

Sounds like more context is needed. I know we’re all ready to raise our pitchforks in anger but it’s possible that there is a valid reason for the delay in some decisions and it’s not some additional “phase.”

Is anyone shocked by this? No.
Will anyone protest this? No.
Will anything change going forward? No.

Life at Nike is the hunger games… the sooner you realize that, the longer you’ll last.
