Thread regarding CVS layoffs

RTO should be expanded beyond Hartford and Woonsocket

Those within driving distance of Hartford or Woonsocket should be grateful they have the opportunity to connect and network with fellow colleagues. And, if you’re fortunate enough to work in the same location as your manager and don’t take advantage of the opportunity to connect in person then you’re missing out. In our remote world we need more connection not less. I don’t understand the mental health argument against RTO at all. If coming into an office is all it takes to shake your mental health then you have much bigger problems to address. Take some personal responsibility and su-k it up. Last I checked no one is forcing you to work for CVS.

Sooooo much wrong with OPs post. First of all, I know have to dedicate much more time of MY day to getting ready and getting to and from the office that I was able to spend either for myself, or for getting a jump on my work. The closest colleague I work with is 1,000 miles away. I have worked remotely for 25 years with three different companies, and in office for 7 years with one company. I do not relish being disturbed and distracted by others chit chatting about their kids, vacations, weekend plans, etc. I don't want to know who is sleeping with whom. I don't want to walk to and from the bus three days a week in all kinds of weather, nor do I want to battle traffic getting to and from the office which costs time, money, and a negative impact to the environment. Finally, I don't work with anyone else in the Hartford office, so I will be collaborating by myself in the corner, annoyed that CVS has robbed me of 6 hours a week that I could spend doing something other than travelling. That's my time, not theirs. Working early and late is not off the table. I will log on at 8, off at 5 and I am out of there. There is not one positive thing about this initiative for the vast majority of us.

This is just a way to get people to quit on their own instead of having more layoffs, and I suspect it'll work. It certainly isn't going to improve productivity when many people will just be standing around complaining about being in the office, or sitting at their desks applying for another job.

Bwahahaha! Ok OP..total plant comment.
They said that RTO policy in Hartford would be used as a model for the rest of the country, so buckle up its coming! I came to this job with WAH agreement in place early on, now they are going back on their original agreement. This goes way beyond Covid WAH agreements.

Risking life and limb on roads full of angry people will be great for my mental health. OP, I feel sorry for you. The fact that you don’t understand how being a remote worker is positive for a worker’s mental health tells me you’re living a very empty life.

As someone who does correlation analysis, there is a very strong NEGATIVE correlation between employees in office and stock price.

1 day a week on average meant a stock price well above 80$

0 days a week was over $100

3 days and forcing it and stock is $60

I understand correlation causation….but damn

Was there some new hybrid policy announcement? I didn't see it.

Absolutely not. This is not how the world works. Being “fortunate” to drive to an old stale office to sit in a cubicle with fluorescent lighting?? And no privacy to even have conversations with your “manager” anywhere? No. Employees have been producing the same if not more work while remote. There’s no reason to waste personal time commuting to an office building full of sad frowning employees. CVS already makes it absolutely miserable to work for them. There’s no reason to make it worse by forcing completely baseless, hallow, boomer-generated RTO policies.

OP is a CVS old-school brainwashed mo--n.
I'm pretty sure OP is just a troll and I fell for it... lol

I can guarantee, CVS had more staff productivity during COVID than any other time in the history of CVS...

If you actually cared about spending time with your family and friends you wouldn’t be working at CVS.

Personally, I’d rather use the 6-10 hours a week I’d waste sitting in my car to connect with family and friends, not connect with the 1 person in my department who would be in the same office.

Reading the policy for hybrid workers it sounds like it also applies locations that are not CT or RI. I may be confusing the policy but at first glance it would seem anyone working in office pre Covid is expected to return to that office. Maybe I’m wrong but that’s how I’m reading it. Interested in whether anyone is regularly going into non-hub offices
