Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Any updates.

Has anyone any credible information relating to EMEA please. I think maybe its time to relax until January 2025. Does anyone else agree

I can't get over whoever is on these threads working so hard to convince everyone that everything is fine and nothing is going to happen while workers were literally notified today that they are no longer needed.

There's an AI trial program that some teams are using as off 1 week that will "help" TL's with coachings. If the AI does all the work and the TL just delivers the training form, then the TL job becomes obsolete. I definitely think there's more layoffs comming.

Some managers and TLs have been restricted access to certain docs... that says a lot :(

I don't know where, but expect more by this Friday. I have been told to hold off on certain action items due to particular teams about to go through a restructuring

Everything has gone suspiciously silent since the NA ICA layoff which leads me to believe there’s another big one coming. Last I heard, next on the chopping block is NA CRE but who knows. At this point it’s just wait and see and hope for the best.

It's a corporate environment. There will always be layoffs. We saw two large ones in consecutive years which is rare but we had extremely poor leadership in the past. Dan laid of roughly 2000 people in 2023 only to turn around and hire back 2000 people so it does not surprise me that we experienced a similar sized layoff in 2024. Always have your resume ready if you choose to work for a big corporation.

The person trying to reassure everyone seems and feels very strategic. There is no way the layoffs are done if their goal is to be 75% AI by 2025.

You can rest easy and worry no more. There’s no further planned layoffs this year. The headcount reductions have met the CEO’s goals and the company is doing very well. Anything else is fear mongering and scare tactics. Also, of those that remain I still see plenty of employees that are simply messing around in the office, taking excessive long breaks and hiding out in the cafeteria or somewhere. I know a few managers and employees that set a bunch of meetings in their Outlook calendar and simply walk away elsewhere (so they look busy at all hours of the day). There’s always a lower-performer than you they can let go. It’s a just a matter if they get caught or not.

I feel like there’ll be an announcement in the next few weeks tbh

The business has already committed to more headcount reductions. This I can assure you.

Dunno they’re staying very vague I find. And no communication from the USA saying we shouldn’t worry is what I find odd. And now the tl manager jumping ship🙃.
