Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

URGENT - Please advice

I was recently laid off... and everything was clean .. and i am on my notice period now...

then suddenly get this mail today... from some one in WF.. i looked up his profile in linkedin and his profile says 'Enterprise Investigations' ...

The body of the email:

I am requesting a meeting with you regarding a compliance review that has come to our attention. I wanted to get this on your calendar as soon as possible.

Unfortunately, I cannot provide any further details as to the nature or subject matter of the call.

Pursuant to Wells Fargo Code of Ethics, this meeting is confidential, and you are restricted from discussing this meeting invite or details of our discussion with your co-workers or any other parties that do not have a business need to know.

Please be sure to call in from a location that allows sufficient privacy to speak freely and you are the only person in the room.

Anyone has any idea.. what can this be? How should I be prepared?

I love it how in a few instances on this thread, including OP, the people being asked to clarify what occurred were LAID OFF and the people being investigated are still WITH THE BANK. Shows you how bad WF is at making decisions.

I’ve gotten this email before. Was the word “text” ever used in Teams? They flag that and investigate the context to make sure you were not conducting business via unapproved devices.

Having worked in that group, I can say with certainty that you are either a witness being interviewed about a case involving others or you are the one they are investigating. Cooperate and be truthful. Simple.

I worked next to someone who was given a "heads up" that they were going to be displaced in a few months...and that person emailed stuff to himself and that triggered an investigation. He was put on administrative leave while the investigation was conducted. Ultimately was fired for violating information security policy. If you haven't done anything that violates policy (except for posting this information here), it's probably an investigation of someone in your department. If you don't cooperate, can they withhold your severance pay?

I got something like that. They were investigating a colleague who had pics of himself posing with g-ns on his computer. He liked to show them to people. He was a very volatile guy prone to screaming tantrums. His colleagues got nervous and someone reported him. HR took it seriously.

@coh+1sSoLg11, on top of that, corrupt COO program managers are deeply involved with conduct management, and telling them what to do. Every time COO program managers touch something, things always go wrong, I mean, go bad.

Sounds to me like they are conducting an investigation to someone in your department, possibly your ex manager, and this might be your opportunity to burn a person if you hate them with good reason.

They are either investigating a co-worker or maybe even your manager. If it was about you, you wouldn't get something like this. I wouldn't worry about it at all.

@dcg+1sSoLg11, I concur. I once worked on one of the Conduct Management teams. They are very disorganized, politically very toxic, lots of backstabbers, and turnover is very high there. I wouldn't trust that organization.

A friend of mine who had been laid off received a similar request. She was worried and nervous and wasn’t sure if she should respond. It ended up that they were investigating her former coworker who was still at the bank.

OP here.... I got a meeting invite from WF.. and apart from the requestor there is another person on the invite..

The original email said about compliance review... and the meeting invite says this ... I am a nervous wreck :( please advice how to handle this..

I’ve spoken to enterprise investigations before and this looks like their default email. I don’t think you’d be off base to tell them that you’ve been laid off and are unable to verify that it’s real.

Hey OP, fret no more. This means that they investigating the behavior or actions of one of your former colleagues. Some one had probably listed you as a witness or as some one who encountered the activity in question. I’ve received like five of these things. I’d wish you luck, but you won’t need it!!!!

WF managers are weird people. Even if you didn't do anything wrong, they still manufacture fake reasons to throw you under the bus so that they save their own skin. I speak from my own experience.

May be nothing to worry about. Probably involves either a coworker or some process you used to be involved with. If YOU were the target of the investigation, it's highly unlikely that they would just be sending you an invite to meet by phone.
