on h1b visa from ABC org, told by immigration lawyer that perm process is halted in anticipation of layoff in the coming months(was told last year that perm shall restart in june / july in 2024 after last year's layoff). No perm can be filed if layoff happened in the last 6 months so, i am already looking for new job. Total disaster, i initially joined CVS for stability and looked like I was completely wrong

Engineering - no layoffs ,over crowded teams scrambling ! Tilak is great
Sounds like someone finally realized how bloated and overpaid A&BC is
This sounds like false alarm. Company cannot file for perm AFTER the layoffs are announced. Based on what the attorneys shared with me, this period lasts around 6 months after the layoffs concluded. So what doesn't make sense in this post is why would the attorneys make decisions on something that is tentative and then proceed to share this with the employee. This would only cause more confusion and speculation. My immigration point of contact from Olgletree has confirmed couple of weeks back that they will be filing perm around July-August.
I know some engineers who make fun of others as they make a lot of money remotely and don't know what to do with that cash.they were told remote for ever, so indicate which teams have RIF
it is amazing to see the emotion here and released at the wrong place, the post is to warn about layoff in ABC org. And warning about incoming layoff is the purpose of this forum. the op is obviously a full time employee on h1b going through the legal green card process and not a contractor. The news article of disney is about company bringing contractors (also visa holder but not via CVS) from outside consulting firms.
I am as angry as others are about that approach but how is that related? In Last year's layoff, CVS fired a lot of contractors even before laying off full time employees
I'd say the facts are spot on.... I'm living what was described. We are producing all these reports for KPMG to make our staffing decisions for us.
H1B or FTE... is the same.
The people element of CVS is long one.
Pay the big consulting firms to run IT operation... "one throat to choke" Accenture or whoever.... is the goal.
op is talking about perm, only full time employees can go through perm and the op is just warning about layoff in abc org (is that the purpose of the site). now the dopes who think others are dopes post sarcasm complaining about tilak doing outsourcing and contactors. outsourcing is moving jobs overseas(nothing to do with h1b visa), contractors are not full time employees and cvs will not sponsor perm for them. you have every right to be angry on outsouring. but save your energy at the right target and at the right post and get your facts right.
The old news article is very relevant. Tilak does this everywhere he gets employment.
Outsourcing and bringing in his "boys" to run things into the ground.
The dope saying "don't you have something better to do" is in denial.
and the comment makes him feel better about his incoming layoff.
KPMG aka "the Bob's" are already onsite making employment decisions in IT.
someone needs therapy because their leaders scam everyone to bring contractor force
someone in need of therapy for digging up a news thread 10 years ago, do you have better things to do
Don’t worry. Tilak has your back https://legalnewsline.com/stories/510661189-disney-hit-with-class-action-lawsuits-for-allegedly-replacing-employees-with-foreign-workers
Unfortunately you were wrong. There has been no stability since KL took the lead.
