Rules about converting ETW

Currently working as ETW, found a recently posted role I would be a good fit for. Current manager is contacting the HM and looking for the recruiter, however, I was told the HM can’t speak directly to me.

Is there some kind of rule about this? Contract ends at the end of the month and team doesn’t have budget insight for extension or conversion yet.

I’m a 15yr professional in my field working at top companies but this is my first contract role in-between full time careers. Totally new at this and not sure of all the rules at Nike.

The hiring manager can't talk to you directly about the role, but they can talk to you about what their team is working on in the spirit of career development.

Should I be applying somewhere else?

Where are you applying to them? In regular Workday, or starting on jobs.nike.com?

Thanks for the info! My application was rejected immediately, is this because I’m on a current contract? Should I apply again?

There was one question I wasn’t sure about that might have lead to the rejection.

Also, I’ve found roles that are supposedly internal only. Are these only for FTE or can ETW APPLY?

It would be the same if you were a regular employee, to avoid preferences, doesn’t always happen but should be the rule.

You can't have any internal "help" with the hiring process and have to apply as any other non-employee would. This isn't a Nike thing, this is a lawsuit avoidance thing

Yes, there is a rule. Apply for the role and follow the “normal” hiring process.
