So many people are quitting the branch that when people put in their two weeks, the ares will come to the branch and start negotiating for you to stay. The area leader will cancel their meet and make that U turn to the branch. Someone put in there two weeks and the area leader made them a senior relationship banker. They get paid 70k now. In back office they will let you go the same day but in the branch they will start getting on their knees. Hahaha

I have heard retention is part of the Area Leaders incentive so that’s is why the try to keep teammates. Conflict of interest I say. Most times they keep or move teammates who should go. For the teammates who they should keep it is far too late since they should have recognized their worth before they turn in a notice.
In case you don’t understand they don’t care about the branches. They are pushing all clients to transact online, business and personal. They believe that customers will stay with them regardless. It’s a big gamble and one that has plus and minus consequences. 55 and over like going to a branch and the personal touch. They also are the customers with the most assets. They don’t like to change banks but they have begun to do so. Small business and clients with up to 50 million in loans lines of credit etc. want, require and in many cases demand personal attention from the branch, the MMB and anyone else associated with their accounts. These people are running to other banks, mostly smaller, but not in all cases.SunTruist doesn’t care as they think they can make much more money with investment banking. All the nonsense about community and purpose is just that, NONSENSE!!
Branches are regularly “closed” due to lack of staffing. It’s a disaster.
I worked in the branches in the 2000s in Suntrust. Clients were amazed when I lasted more than a year back then as a manager. Branches have high turnover. Something like 40 to 60% per year. That’s nothing new and they begged me to stay too and I was burned out back then and that was pre 2008. I am in corporate now and nobody begs us to stay. I value the people I work with. Most of them want to leave to and project star ki-led good people we work with and was so d-mb that I think rain man controlled it. We carry on and try our best. Truist is not a computer pant I would recommend to a peer nowadays
But it's still only 70k...
