Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Nike HR is corrupt

I wish one of these big law firms would go after them and teach them and the employment law team a lesson. People speak up and next thing you know they are managed out, fired or laid off.

I just learned about a former colleague who was terminated for an alleged leak. Mind you this person had zero access to product information and was merely speculating about a potential launch they were hoping too see. Next thing you know, they got fired. Nike tried to fight their unemployment claim, but the state turned them down as there wasn’t evidence that this person did what Nike said they did. They should sue Nike but their pockets aren’t deep enough. That is how this POS of a company keeps getting away with this stuff.

Hello Former Nike Employee here (that was terminated because of supervisor that bullied me- yep I've seen at least 10+ incidents where they kept the supervisors safe instead of the employees. The HR is just there to "document" and if you give information they will pretend that they are listening but not actually investigate the case. The only investigation they will do is if they are in deep trouble or not. They will let you go without investigating whether or not somebody is actually harassing you.

Do not under any circumstances give them a detailed document unless they are willing to comply both ways. RECORD EVERY Interaction.

I’ve worked at other large companies and while I would agree that HR is really just there to protect the company, but I’ve never seen a HR function that supports such toxic company culture.

Nike’s HR is worse than average though. Their order of priority is

Certain leadership —> Nike Brand —> Nike Policy —> Nike Employees

We’ve watched our company culture get destroyed & our company’s savings get drained in the last few years. With HR actively shielding the thief’s involved.

HR is there to protect the company. NEVER the individual. I know a few cases first hand where HR dug up some obscure vague "violations" to lawfully terminate someone. NEVER trust anyone from HR.

I’ve heard this has happened to several people. Similar story with no real evidence the person actually did something wrong.

The head of HR is probably the worst leader at Nike other than JD himself. The function has been a joke forever.

@1lk really? You must be an HR drone. If that was the case then why wouldn’t that evidence be shared with the state?

Nike is a horrible company…all of it. Glorified cheap products pumped up by athletes and influencers making heavy damage to general public.

I am 100% believing the anti-HR position here Mrs. HR Rep.

There’s a reason the sneakerhead slack channel is so freaked out about anyone mentioning trading shoes, or even asking for help finding a grail, let alone talk of actual monetary exchange (what’s actually forbidden).

HR takes pride in ruining lives with the smallest excuse.

"speculating about a potential launch" apparently includes sending out the design ppt to external parties. Careful what you believe
