Thread regarding Avaya layoffs

Engage Y’all

Another year, another Engage!

I am(was) a big fan of Engage, I have to admit this is the first year I thought of skipping and just go out for some beers. Well, I will conjure up some enthusiasm. So what is there to talk about this version?

  • Avaya is not only back..Avaya is roaring forward: how? Can someone, anyone elaborate? Has avaya really turned the corner? Watching AM, ML, OJ and JP regurgitate IWD talking points has become boring much. Move on guys.

Highlights & Lowlights

  • Edify acquisition. touted as the life-saving orchestration and no-code tool to orchestrate customer journeys, will it ki-l the AXP app? Only time will tell…
  • Zoom: 2nd time Eric is on stage via erm…Zoom. We will have to wait 2-3 months to find out what this is all about.
  • Ring expanded partnership: “an expansion of offerings for Avaya customers, including a new hybrid solution of RingCentral’s AI-powered cloud business communications solution with Avaya Aura telephony”. Great! While Vlad was at Engage, would’ve been great had AM and ML pressed him stop his goons ripping us off by going direct to Avaya customers and poaching our own deals? Thank you very much!
  • “Unique” Demos: repackaged GITEX demos. how original.
  • Restructuring: are we done yet? I'm all for making Avaya a smaller company, but not at the morale busting cost of layoffs lurking around like the Spanish Inquisition. It’s taking a toll on people and morale. But who cares about people and morale anyway, right?
  • Final thought: whomsoever signed up Ray Wang & the NASA robotics AI lady, needs to walk. Abysmal.

Roaring toward US Justice Department Action.
Roaring toward Clients not caring what the PR Spin of the Day is.
Roaring toward yet another CRO with an ego who needs to p-e on their tree.

AM kept repeating the same talking points, I think he’s said them so many times he believes they have already happened. The key thing that’s yet to come to pass is “execution” and it will be the rank and file that execute (not AM and C Suite). DPTW isn’t something you just declare, it is EARNED. This is the only thing (DPTW) AM can execute on himself (the rest will be done by the employees of Avaya.) He hasn’t even come close to doing what needs to realize DPTW, he’s actually done more damage than good. He’s in his own way of being really successful. He has zero credibility with the rank and file. Not even sure he can win back hearts at this point.

Agree on everything, but Ray Wang. He's really re inspiring that segment of the industry and giving Gartner a run for it's money. I like his style.
