Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

Layoffs and India/Philippines

Does anyone truly know truly know the salary ratio from a laid off worker to a India/Philippines hire? $100k job laid off here is paid how much there?

You can't compare per worker though, because for India in particular, it can take 3 or 4 times as many workers to do the same job. Look at all the scandals with our OWN internal tech support a few years ago. It was so bad it almost cost Saul his job at one point. Nobody in the whole company could get tech support from the India team at all unless you waited on hold for 2-3 hours.

The India workers simply hate Americans and don't get the work done at anywhere near the same effectiveness level. What's going on is Wells is spending less and GETTING less for it, simply lowering the quality of output from Wells Fargo. Anyone saying an India worker is just as good is insane. Look at the teams that need to work with the India staff. It takes at least 4x as many to get the same work done that one American gets done, and sometimes the work simply doesn't get done at all, so it's literally incalculable sometimes.

FTE expense comparisons:
Job Title: Analytic Consultant 2
U.S. “fully loaded” expense - $119,966
India “fully loaded” expense - $25,439
That’s an 80% savings in labor.
On average, for the same role Indian workers are making approximately 20% - 25% of what U.S. based workers are making.

@3yny+1s8CiJzN I don't know either. You are saying what the data suggests from Glassdoor (I posted the +26 one). I found it interesting that Indian job applicants are told to know the US pay before "negotiating". It is not the initial pay but the pay range after x number of years. The whole thing has to be managed. You have to be able to get rid of the spoofers quickly.

Oh good. I’m glad I didn’t get any raises, since 2008 so I think I’m safe. I feel bad for people that have decent money and have huge expenses. I think I’m really good at this point. I’m glad I’m a cheap, good employee because I’m just in the lower middle class at this point so that’s where they want us to be. And I’m all good with that because my expenses are cheap! 👍

The avg AU rate for a specific div @ $100/hr and for I&P avg of $30/hr. If you dispose 30 pct US based staff the $100 rate decreases to $70/hr considering equal 70/30 onsite/offshore split.

90 percent of you have no idea what the above means. Keep spreading rumors.

The high ratios being quoted are the equivalent of comparing a P4 to a P1. That’s not the reality. Realistically it is in the 3-4:1 neighborhood. Still a cost savings and allows WF to brute force things into existence.

10 to 1 approaching 15 to 1
If you also consider tax writeoffs

(Costs incurred by employers to offshore US jobs are generally deductible for US income tax purposes)

Depends on the job. do this. "Senior Technology Business Services Consultant make in United States?" According to Glassdoor they make 148K to 237K. This sounds high but ok.
Now search How much does a Senior technology business services consultant make in Bengaluru? The average salary for a Senior technology business services consultant is ₹13,55,296 in Bengaluru. Salary estimates are based on 1 salaries submitted anonymously to Glassdoor by Senior technology business services consultant employees in Bengaluru. ₹13,55,296 is about $16,941.20 USD.
So you can get 8.74 Indians for 1 US. The site also says a "lead software engineer" averages ₹36,82,682 or $46K

However I dig further and use an India VPN.
for a "Wells Fargo Senior Software Engineer Salaries" 569 Salaries submitted.
All -- ₹20.0L-₹31.0L/yr or $25K - $38.7K
0-1 -- ₹5L- ₹29.5L or $6.25K -$36.88
1-3 -- ₹8L - ₹28.2L or $10K -$35.2
4-7 -- ₹8L - ₹24.0L + ₹9.0 or $21.25 - $35.25
7-9 -- ₹15.0L- ₹26.7L or $18.7K - $33.38K
10-14 -₹20.0L- ₹31.0L or $25 K - $38.75K
15+ - ₹25.0L- ₹40.0L or $31.25K - $50K

It’s a lot the job postings show their salary and an engineer in India makes the equivalent of 10k a year so they can hire 10 to 1!!
