Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

This has been the worst week of my Nike career. I feel so lost in the dark.

If I had gotten any information on timing around when EMEA/GC did, I would've been able to focus and do my job. But crickets. Thanks Mo. HR just doesn't care about the employee experience. There's so many notes going around, seemingly to everyone but WHQ. A full week of rumors but HR doesn't communicate with the global audience of what the heck is going on and so this whole week has been a wash. And I thought JD cared about productivity!!!

Don’t worry, this won’t be the last bad week if we survive

FYI, HR is in scope as well. 95% are as clueless as you are. I think your anger would be better directed towards the leadership coming up with these decisions.

You’ll always get more reliable information through rumors or third parties like this website. Internal communication has always struggled in times like these.

Stop fantasizing and come to your senses. In any corporation, HR only exists to protect the company. HR is not their to protect you (the employee). What you have between the company and yourself is a contract. That's it. The company pays you for the work you do. They don't owe you anything more then that. The company would not survive in this environment if it had emotions. Humans have emotions, but the company doesn't. The company exists only to make money for itself and it's shareholders. These companies are not like the olden days where they were run by a mom or pop or a family. Those days are over. Therefore, I say to you, stop fantasizing that your company should care about you. They don't and they never will. So do not get attached to much to the company and your colleagues. Once people get laid off, they move onto their next job and their life. It happened to me at my company (not Nike) and I worked with my group for over 20+ years, but once we got laid off, everyone when their own way. Now I understand what a contract is and not to get too attached to the company.
