Its not that simple for EMEA. Those folks have local labor laws that make it so its not an obituary for a person who is exited. The process takes time and even after someone is laid off, they still come into the office for a while during that processing. Its a MUCH different experience for them, than it is in the USA. Its shameful that Nike doesn't adopt those same practices here as well.
EMEA is doing things with decency and dignity. Why can't we follow suit? What a contrast. No drastic slack deactivations, co-workers encouraged to stay in touch and support each other. Authentic leader that shares information clearly, even if it's tough. It's easy to think it's because of labor rights, but let's face it: it's WHQ leaders' poor decision-making and utter lack of respect for employees that led us to where we are today. Fearful for our jobs, in the dark about what's going on, monitoring this website for updates, receiving an email signed by a group...
Slacking still works even if they aren't disabled. If they respond, you have your answer =) I've checked an EMEA user I know was impacted, and they are still in all the same groups, so it could be they are a little less paranoid about that team
Go to iDlocker, user groups and find any group you know your group belongs to (like a function’s distro list). The wider the list the better.
Download that list and then download again to find who’s not there any more.

If they are truly your friend, then text them and ask.
Be in touch with your friend
Ask them
Slack deactivation isn’t working for EMEA layoffs
Try to Slack them.
