Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

JD in quote the pickle

JD and his minions working overtime in a panic to decide if WFH next week is the way to go.

Timing wise, what a big swing and a miss for his PR team to release comments about us not being “disruptive” working from home. Not surprising, as this is a typical misstep for a company like Nike.

Will he contradict himself and eat his words? Will he stick with the original plan?

Stay tuned!

I had remote work authorization as part of my hiring offer. But I ran a team at WHQ, which I would go visit at least once a month. Then the travel bans started (the average airfare for me to get there was $250). We were told "if the meeting can happen over zoom then your travel will NOT get approved. I finally said fine - I'll pay for it myself. That was met with a note from HR that said I wasn't allowed to do that. I was like "wait - you are going to try and stop me from freely traveling to Portland?!". The answer was no, we can't do that, but we can block you from entering the building. So get that - I pay for myself to be with my team and HR was going to lock me out of the building. That's just how much THE OTHER WAY the company was bent on remote work. JD's comments are laughable.

Just received the email from “Senior Leadership” can’t even take the blame wholly himself.

Excerpt from a podcast 8 months ago, August 2023:
"The CEO applauds the Nike team saying they did a phenomenal job and kept the momentum going despite facing the toughest of challenges amid the ravaging pandemic."

What a total a-s clown to talk out of the other side of his mouth now.....

If we don’t get global guidance, my org won’t ever take a stance. They’ll let us flounder like they have since this news dropped in December. We need a global direction. What a joke.

I love seeing him get dragged on LinkedIn for that stupid a-s remark. Never seen so many former and current alumni actively calling the CEO out. Maybe metoo but at least MP quickly and swiftly let the hammer rain

What a cluster. As a person in an org with zero direction, I’m now trying to imagine how the energy on campus next week will be for people who have to show up in person after all this because there is no global direction only global rumors.

It blows my mind that a remote working CEO is so anti remote work.

He’s intimately aware of how easy it is to commute into the office on the company jet. Why not just extend the same benefit to everyone else?

Told to WFH, will not do anything as JD told me my work cannot be done from home effectively
