Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

At what point is it discrimination?

I’ll keep it simple: I work in an area of the bank where there seems to be a calculated effort to eliminate make employees. Not only do women outnumber men 3:1, but we also haven’t hired a man in 6 years and nearly every employee displaced or “retired” has been male. Going further up, my boss’s boss’s directs are 4:1 female to male. These aren’t roles that would traditionally be considered to attract one gender over another.

I understand the push for diversity, but have we swung too far in the opposite direction? Wouldn’t a diverse workplace be a representation of the available workforce?

"It should be based on a representation of the best qualified person for the job, period."

How do you know when it's a diversity hire? Because Accor to a lot of posts here only straight white males seem to be qualified.

  1. Contact a Labor Lawyer and document everything.
  2. Submit ER complaints on any discrimination re: hiring, advancement, ratings, disparate treatment. This starts the paper trail and is key.
  3. Look for retaliation; it comes in all forms from reduction in responsibility, lower ratings, being passed over, laid off, etc.
  4. Make EEOC complaint
  5. Sue and win.

I love watching white males boo hoo about oppression when they've had no problem with it for everyone else for centuries.

Here's some cheese to go w/your whine.

Good to hear from that side. I can't believe how many female managers even at the market level of some of our biggest markets, with no branch manager experience and never recruited a single person. The one market leader wasn't even fully licensed

Was part of an interview panel where there were 140+ applicants. None of the 10 finalists were a white male.

Boy, now you know how women felt for hundreds+ years. The women 100 years ago would say, “you’re sure lucky that one out of four of your gender were hired in a higher role. Progress!”

Signed,
Your great grandmother and her bridge friends

Women do not whine as much as men.

so seems like a wise decision.

I am a white female at Wells Fargo Advisors, and they are making most of the new branch managers female. No financial advisor or manager experience. One was a previous admin. No matter what your gender or race, if you never did the job, you will most likely have a difficult time coaching others with any level of credibility.

From my view, it seems Wells Fargo brand of "diversity" to hire white women.
