Why would you need to hire yet another DEI leader?
"We seek a Principal, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion [DEI] Business Partner for our Converse and Jordan brand teams". Is there really nobody at Nike/Converse qualified for this role? Do you really need to hire from the outside? If that is true, DEI is truly a failure at the swoosh. Oh, and so much for pay transparency. There is zero pay information on the posting.

At this point, JD is a dei hire.
4th person in 5 yrs..
Didn’t we layoff DEI people during one do the last layoffs?
More wasted money.
Same reason that when we are doing vendor RFP's that we have to artificially inflate the score of vendors who are minority/women owned and controlled. It's complete bullsh-t that an inferior vendor can win out due to those factors. How is having a vendor that we are just paying for a product for being the opposite of diverse helpful?
“ that isn't a toxic soup of old boys' behavior”
Keep dreaming man. You just described DEI at Nike. A cesspool with a never ending stream of he-too moments.
I mean, considering all the information coming out periodically regarding toxic work culture/people being subject to inappropriate behavior, we probably need more DEI, because some folks clearly haven't figured out how to be professional/treat people with respect at work.
I'm disgusted by all the allegations that are out there and support anything that will create a workplace where we aren't distracted (and honestly creeped out by) the news of inappropropriate behavior yet again. I'm saddened and embarrassed by this recent news & support anything that will create a culture that isn't a toxic soup of old boys' behavior. DEI addresses this and fosters diverse teams, which I hope will finally dissolve some of the culture that drives these allegations.
Legit question, why is this needed? Just more overhead for zero results.
Another DEI post. Shocker.
