Thread regarding Mondelez International Inc. layoffs

Anyone feel the way that I do

I work for this company as a FTSSROW and I can’t stand this job anymore. Ever since the new system where there is less sales reps and all full timers are order writers went into effect last year things have been a disaster.

I used to like this job a lot when things were the old way where sales reps sold product and wrote orders, seniors covered sales reps vacations and merchandisers part time and full time packed out. This used to be a good place to work. We all used to work with each other. We got to know other merchandisers and sales reps and while we were working hard we did have some laughs. Don’t get me wrong we always had our fair share of days we were overworked but it was no where near as bad as it is now.

Ever since all full timers became order writers things have been nothing but a disaster from the start. It is running the companies reputation into the ground and it makes my head spin at how much of a clusterf__k this company has become. At first I was excited to get to learn how to write orders but that went away very soon. At first I thought that if we get more help this job would be less stressful but my team is not adequately staffed because we can’t get people on board. By the time we get people other people quit. Even some of the part timers on my team quit I guess it’s become that unbearable.

Everyday I feel as if I am being manhandled with work from the time I start to finish. It is non stop and feel like I am getting hit with 10 hours of work in an 8 hour day. Here and there I get nitpicked for things that aren’t entirely my fault. Excessive backstock, bad rotation, outdates, credits bin overflow, etc. I am often criticized that I am not writing good orders. I get spoken to every time I don’t work backstock but what do they expect? Everyday I am scrambling to get work done so myself and others are all rushing to get everything done. It’s like they don’t give you enough time to do a good job which is why everyone myself being one of them just does the basics packs out the order, writes the order than moves onto the next store. It’s like I feel like I am wrong no matter what and anytime I get my backstock down to sale items and core items it only piles up with a mountain of stuff that we don’t need and doesn’t move.

What su-ks is that what I make at this job is better than some of what is on the market. That’s why it’s hard for me to just quit this job although I am so angry with this job that I just want to hand my tablet in and get the f__k out of this company but I can’t I need money I have bills to pay I have rent. I have applied to jobs that pay above the $18-$20 mark and even went on some interviews problem is when applied to a living wage job that pays say $22-$25 an hour or more it becomes more competitive with more applicants and more people to interview. A job like an order writer at this company we are lucky if we even get anyone that actually applies and we are so desperate we’d hire just about anyone and it becomes harder for management to terminate those who don’t do the right thing because we don’t have anybody and can’t get people to come on board. Back when this job had more applicants and more help and was less dreadful people got fired for much smaller offenses than what some of these folks get away with now. This used to be a half decent job but this new system made things a living h__l for everyone.

  • Continued. I made it the COC this last time in NY. Something that they try to hype up and make you feel like you are the best of the best. All inclusive. They set everything up for so you don’t have to do anything but show up. I wasn’t excited as some may think. I’m there to celebrate what? More money in their pockets while they slowly eat away at mine, to the point where I have to think about what expenses I need to start cutting back on? Because not only did the pay su-k but everything else is going up in cost. Should I have been excited because they let a lot of good people go? Should I be excited that I went to bed with a sore back every night? Should I be excited because people were being hired for the first time and basically ordering/ managing multiple accounts that I once took pride hoping that they would just be as successful but actually had the opposite effect? Having to always think of a new excuse as to why their store looks as bad as it does?

Don’t let yourself feel like they value you. I did. And I became worn down, unhappy, depressed. Why should I or anyone let a job affect them so much. I’d hope more people would come to the realization that you are where you are by choice. Yeah, it may be a struggle to find something new but think about long term. There is so much better out there

To the poster, youre not wrong about everything. I used to care. I used to enjoy my job. I took pride in what I did, how I managed my stores, my relationships with stores. I got in when I was 20yrs old. 15 years later I finally threw in the towel. Couldn’t take anymore of this company cheating me out of my hard work every two weeks for a measly salary it came out to be in the end. Incentives used to be great and obtainable. Then it became. Joke. Basically left with a 45/yr salary (without bonuses) after all my time in. Meanwhile kids are getting jobs left and right starting out with more than what I (we) were making. I’m not mad at those that do at all. Just mad at a company that treats their employees like you are the dog S they just stepped in…

No you can’t “take care of yourself”! Use to be that way but with mission one it’s reliant on a team approach to running a territory. When you have people that don’t care, and are only there for a paycheck, it doesn’t work! It was hard enough prior to mission when you had 10 stores and a handful of merchandisers that didn’t care, but now with 30 stores and being micromanaged with time, it will never work! For someone that cares this model doesn’t work! They tried super territories in our region years ago and went back because it was a total disaster! Reps and store personnel hated it! It is different for upper management, they are surrounded by supportive staff, at the bottom, not so much. Things will only get worse! You can no longer take pride in what you do! Expectations are unrealistic but they don’t care! Getting out of Mondelez was the greatest gift I ever gave myself! Wake up everyday happy again!!

I am a FTSSR in update NY too so I know the staffing struggles. But as far as the excessive backstock, outdates, and unwritten credits… that’s totally something you can take care of yourself to make your job a little better!

Yea Walmart is the worst. Locked CAO orders, a--hole managers, hard to get displays and if you do someone takes it down 3 days later. Total waste of time.

I’m a rep and I can say it definitely su-ks. I’m sick of dealing with the blame for everything from the Walmarts, fighting for a display just to have it thrown on a cart a few days later. It’s getting to the point where i dread going back to work on Sunday night. I’ve also been applying for other jobs in the last month cause I can’t take the stress and the constant pressure of trying to get displays at Walmart. They want you to become friends with Walmart managers but they run the other way when they see us, or just when you get to know them well enough to get anything they switch positions.

Mondelez doesn't care. We understand a great system in place but they got greedy and wanted more $$ so they decided to fine a cheaper yet less productive way to run business. I believe they will let the rest of the reps go next year or atleast half of them in yet another cost cutting move. Greedy company just like all the other billionaire companies.
