This has been posted before however after being recently impacted in the layoff and seeing many other good resources also impacted it troubles me to see Tech VPs with non value add jobs. I was told spans and layers were considered but VPs like TT still have teams and accountabilities that could be done by a director. How can some VPs have 500+ yet others have 1 direct, org size under 20 and contributing minimal to turning the company I once loved around.

How TT survived this layoff is a mystery. Word was the layoff was centered around span of control and yet she had like a total of 4-5 ppl in her entire org and still made the cut? Everyone knows she only got that role by su-king up to the Rat so he made up a fake VP role for her. Wonder how many others benefited from favoritism in this last layoff despite the claims it was “just about the numbers”? Ridiculous way to run a company.
The fact that TT still has a job at Nike is mind boggling. She must be blackmailing someone.
Same goes for directors that are still here who barely know how product development or engineering works and have a scope that could easily be filled by a manager.
No, be honest, AOP is a tool that we are forced to treat as an activity. It’s project management 101and job security for people like TT. And, don't stick up for her, she’s a garbage person, and you know it.
Wouldn’t it be nice to work for a company that rooted out all the toxic so-called leaders? T T!PPs was somehow missed. It’s mind boggling. What a horrible human being.
Hopefully she at least knows everyone hates her? But being a sociopath she likely doesn’t care.
TT isn’t perfect, but her role is for sure value add. Being an effective VP isn’t just quantity of direct reports, span of influence also matters. TT is leading all of AOP for GT - is that not VP worthy?
Plenty of other toxic and useless VPs to callout if you want to play that game.
One random VP nested in SEC isn’t going to save the company, so this is a weird take IMO.
