Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

My applaud goes to you, zoom chatters

Miserable was, at best, JD today. But the truth, you said it, today in zoom chat; name attached to boot.

Thank you for your courage zoom chatters. Message heard loud and clear.

Damn, my first move in all-hands is turning off the chat notifications. Can anyone share some of the juicier tidbits?

Several of the people who posted in the chat had meetings put on with their HRBPs.

Didn’t anyone ever tell you all that Nike leadership doesn’t care what you think. How dare you be honest! If you want honesty find another job.

Leadership is about listening, not preaching. The people have spoken and the emperor has no clothes. No plan. No goals. No objectives. No numbers. No data. No clue. The only thing on offer was some sort of “sometimes you have to lose to win” sport religiosity hopes and prayers. Accountability requires leadership to share in that loss since they are truly the losers here. Yet they bask in their bonuses while laying off thousands of winners.
Women, running, Jordan is JD’s equivalent of woman, camera, tv.
Some brave soul summed it up best after it abruptly and mercifully ended, “That’s it?”

Also in the Wikipedia article:

"In October 2019, he was announced as the next CEO of Nike, and succeeded Mark Parker on January 13, 2020.[17] After just four years as CEO, Donahoe laid off over 1600 Nike employees, claiming to hold himself accountable while not resigning from the role.[18]"

Missed the wiki photo, but also wanted to say I’m incredibly grateful for those people as well. That’s the Nike magic. People standing up for what’s right.

Also were they actually going to announce 5/0 today?

This is not a family, it is a business and those of you remaining have a voice. This voice is loud, us it, get the board to understand. He makes $38+million a year and has done ZERO for Nike and its people. I am sad to be going, but hope one day to come back to the company I came to a long time ago. This is NOT Nike anymore, hope it can be again, but not looking good.

The chat was absolutely the star of that meeting today. Thank you to everyone who was brave enough to speak up!

JD kept saying he’s taking accountability, but never said how. Apparently just saying you’re taking accountability is all you need to do…

They were gonna drop the 5/0 news today and zoom chat scared them so bad they ki-led the call! 🤣

I’m glad people are speaking up. It needs to be heard. I’m just hoping it makes a difference.

People are no longer silent. In 10 years, I’ve never seen anything like this or would have guessed these type of comments would appear in an all employee meeting
