Looks like we're down roughly 2.5% today. Anyone know why?
Over the last 5 days we're down more than AT&T who just had a major outrage. What gives?
The cynic in me says VZ is suppressing their own stock price so as not to have to pay out more for the Restricted Stock Units (RSU's).
That doesn’t make sense. An organization doesn’t benefit from stock suppression. Not gonna say there’s not a lot of dirty boardroom deals but this one makes no sense. It’s bad for VZs bottom $ and drives employees away. The dollars were set aside for this years ago to incentivize, Verizon doesn’t win by tanking the stock. VZ doesn’t get that money back by tanking their stock.
A company adds to their dividend when their growth doesn't exist or is very slow to attract investors...I'll just leave this here.
Verizon is a dividend stock and not a growth stock. It will never go to a high price.

OP , simple thinking or you really need to go back to school. That is not how the “basic” stock market works. Yes! Let’s suppress the prices to make the company be worth less to payout RSU. You remind me of a divorce husband quitting his job and moving into his van so he won’t have to pay child support for his own child. Backwards math! Bitter much?
No.. we don’t control the stock. If we could… we wouldn’t suppress it for a few million dollars in rsu payouts. Stock rise and fall based on a lot of factors.. including some level of market manipulation but 200 billion dollar commences don’t worry about your stock together payouts. They’re far happier to pay more for a healthy stock. Hence the point of a stock incentive..
It dropped right after the announcement that we issued a $1 billion green bond in order to "remain a leader in green finance and DEI in the Capital markets".
