For those that have a second job outside of Humana, can you work at a hospital, or would that be a conflict of interest since it’s still within the healthcare industry? I’m thinking of applying for a role within my local hospital, and it would be outside of my Humana work hours, and if hired, I would disclose it on the Conflict of Interest Form of course, but I’m curious if working at a hospital would be considered too close to a conflict of interest? With the cost of living increasing, I desperately need to make more money, but I like the flexibility that remote work at Humana offers me, and I desperately need a second job. The compensation at Humana isn’t the highest (in my opinion), and with our bonuses being cut, it’s just not cutting it.

I worked weekends at my local hospital the entire 8 years I was with Humana and it was never an issue. Just be sure to fill out the Conflict of Interest form every year. If for some reason there is a problem they will let you know but I received confirmation every year that no conflict was found.
So sad Humana does not pay well enough that associates living conservatively and frugally cannot make ends meat. Even associates with tenur and years of experience. I am thinking I need to get a second job myself. But since I am not in clinical, I wouldn't make very much working in retail or the like. And it may just bump my tax bracket to where the extra $$ would not help anyway. It just makes me really sad.
And the job market isn't all that great, competitors are laying off too. At this rate, who has enough money to put extra in the 401k, or IRA. Secure Save is a great benefit but for a lot of people, its either the HSA, 401k, or Secure Save....but definitely not all 3. For those with children, how do you survive? For those empty nesters, how do you save for retirement? There definitely isn't enough money to max 401K limit to be able to qualify for the 'catch up' contrib for those in the age range, or consider the extra 1k allowed in the HSA for people 55+. I am very grateful for the Humana match to the 401k, but with the way things are going I am very concerned they will reduce that as well.
I worked at a hospital my first three years at Humana. This is not a conflict of interest. I completely understand your concerns because I am looking for per diem work as well.
Take the second job provided it is not within the government or at a competitor. Just make sure you file a COI form.
I worked per diem at my local hospital and full time at Humana. I submitted the COI form and received back from HR that it wasn’t a conflict of interest.
