This is absurd. Pay attention, y’all. The Lab isn't going anywhere. We're unique. No kidding. Our leaders back us up. We're handed the special projects and, indeed, the funding.

The rest of the TIS schmucks may leave, but we're here to stay.

Your rockstar analogy doesn’t quite work. I agree you can’t be a rockstar if you don’t play an instrument, but if you’re good at playing an instrument in 2024, you still have a shot at being a rockstar. You can work hard at Enbridge but this does not give you a chance at financial freedom… they aren’t promoting on skill, experience or performance, they’re promoting yes people and DEI candidates.

I'm 53. I was the beneficiary of the circumstances in which I grew up. I own my home. I'm comfortable. My retirement is financially secure no matter what the next three days brings.

I feel for people born after 1990. Things are not nearly as conducive to traditional success as my generation experienced. And so I understand if, in the absence of the reward of home ownership and financial stability, folks put their foot down and insist on work life balance over chasing the dream.

However... if you've made that choice, own it. Do not complain about the unattainability of something you've opted out of pursuing. That's what's known as a self-fulfilling prophecy. Might as well say, "It's unfair that I never got to be a rock star! But the odds were against me, so I decided not to learn an instrument."

“What happened to the good old days when people used to work and value work?” And “want to wokr 4 days 5 h a day only for double of what we get and remotely, lazy young generation thats it.”

Perhaps the “lazy young generation” would value work more if we could buy housing, cars or vacation with the money like your generation… making an assumption you’re an older fieldworker… I can’t imagine a life that’s possible on a single income, which many older Oil and Gas workers experienced. Hard work.. I’m sure! But hard work actually paid then. Lazy, no, we just work for a company that cares more about if we meet their DEI needs for PR, as opposed to delivering on work. And DEI has damaged the family models and brought down wages. It’s not like the diverse hires are negotiating enough money to be a single income family, now we just have everyone “working” all the time.

OCIO and Lab. It is an absolute waste of resources. CFO needs to ask a straightforward question - what value are they generating? The rest of TIS is suffering because of them. All political drama and favoritism. What happened to the good old days when people used to work and value work?
