Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Job market is not as robust as recent data implied

Gotta admit, I am shocked by that revelation.

GLASSDOOR POST FOR ANY MANAGERS LOOKING FOR EXTERNAL TALENT (Dont laugh, it could happen again, riiiigght!?!?!?). FEEL FREE TO COPY AND PASTE
Do you have a man bun, or blue hair and want to work from how two days a week when everyone would prefer you're home 5 days a week so they don't have to walk on eggshells? Looking for the exact same vacation time as Boomers that worked 20-25 years for the same amount of time off and will need train you continuously until they eventually are forcibly retired or surplussed? Don't know anything about telecommunications but have a desire to be special and check the proper boxes? Have a lust for office politics and not care who's face you step on to achieve your own goals? Well, AT&T may be the place for you! Not now, maybe in a couple years when we go through half a dozen layoffs and eventually can't run the business on a skeleton crew, At AT&T we desire young talent that wants to get their foot in the door at the bottom of the payscale! The 15 years + it will take to get out of that bottom range, if ever, will fly right by with your raises that are far oess than cost of living and dwarfed by inflation, but if you work really hard, you may get more than 2% a year raise. Really really hard. And its not gaurunteed. Dont get your hopes up we really want to expand our corporate culture, meaning look good to peopke that like to complain on social media so they dont look in our direction. We want a young and diverse work force! We think we do at least, despite past efforts to hire and trian young people but because they don't get nearly the benefits like pensions or future insurance there's no reason to stay, they/them leave for greener pastures once fully trained. (Don't do that ok, please?) If you have what it takes (college degree and a desire to work for less than market value), keep your resume handy and you may one day put that fine arts degree to work by being thrust into a position you're not qualified for! We are proud of our legacy: AT&T is a former Dow Jones company, had a cash surpluss during the Great Recession and used that capital to be a driver of change and innovation! We single handedly built TMobile into a direct competitor when they previously were a fly on our bloated arrogant overfed torso, bought Directtv as cordcutting was taking off and never spent a penny to upgrade the service and put thousands out of work with our decisions to focus on television instead of being an IPS first, made waves in the entertainment business and rubbed elbows with the stars before realizing that making movies is hard and expensive (maybe we should have looked into this more but Randy still probably wears Batman underoos, dont worry, we paid him millions to leave, phew), we did all this innovation off the back of our core business and lived like God's! Sorry you missed it, it was fun! For the exacutives that is, not the peons. Anyway, do you want a job and are under 30? Not right now of course. Maybe never. Again, to reiterate, we are not hiring. Keep trying though! We need you to usher in the next generation of layoffs, may the hardest working for the least pay survive! Unless you check that right box of course, then you're in for life! Apply today! We may or may not respond within the next two years, but if your blood relatives are high enough up the chain we will make the room, making the entire process a sham! Good luck!

Fake news. Go look at indeed, lots of jobs that are remote. Fear the job market! You're only option is to move to Dallas or Atlanta!

Interestingly, outside of T, all the people I know/see getting laid off are remote WFH people.

Not happening. Rate cuts won't happen as long as the official inflation rate is running higher than 2%. And if you believe the real inflation rate is 2% you are a fool.
