Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

How to deal when you didn’t get picked?

I feel awful. I have a coworker whose job was eliminated. It’s very sad. However, he is now taking the approach of take down his boss and bosses boss at all cost. Including recruiting other with fake stories and asking them to back him. How are others dealing with this drama when they are not picked to be let go. I love my department and our teams leader is actually really great. I don’t think she wanted this but not sure how to deal.

It is best to ignore this person as he processes his anger. Nothing is going to change and you don't want to get involved in this.

You aren’t alone. It’s normal to feel this way I think at first because it’s such a shock and upsetting but it is a sad use of energy. I watched my leader hold back tears talking to us about this all but meanwhile the person who got cut says they are heartless and awful. Hopefully people can see the truth which is Nike hired consultants who looked at roles and told orgs they had to cut.

I would go no contact and just no respond. This will ruin likelihood of them being rehired and impact their ability to be hired elsewhere. It’s a small industry and people talk.

Also, they need to be careful if this is seen as retaliation or harassment they could be fired and lose severance and benefits, which they are NOT entitled to

People are looking to blame someone. Their managers are the only choice for them but I honestly believe anyone that was cut knows that this wasn’t personal. Most was not merit based at all. But people need to grow up. Trying to “take down the man” is a colossal waste of time and resources. A. You’re not getting rehired B. The claim won’t be looked as at anything other than sour grapes. Put the focus into getting a new job. Don’t put yourself in a spot to lose the package you received. Nike can still go Scott he’s earth with you if your do it to them

They are asking to file anonymous complaints so no one will know who it came from. Also has said they’ll name people even is they don’t want to complain so they get interviewed by HR to drag as many people into the drama

Just remind people this is not personal. As someone who had to let two people go, we got little to no say and it’s not performance based at all. The people I let go were great, it was painful. Don’t feed into it if it isn’t true

Usually there's a nondisparagement clause in the agreement...
