Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Why outsource to Cognizant ?

Why don’t the company trust it’s own employees and highly reliable to third party vendor like Cognizant and other companies? Why can’t they build their strong team of FTE and do work instead of some other outside resources ? Instead of looking after its FTE, why are they bent for increasing vendor contractors ? Is there any inside benefits?

So you are a shoe maker n not expert in Tech, not expert in Finance, not in Logistics, not in Marketing etc. do we outsource all??? While the flip side of it is love and passion grown over the years in the company which equate to making sure the co will do well! Wat kind of love and passion can you derive from a 3rd party? Will they want to know the co & its customer well? Do they care?

High mgt will say they had research n other co did well with these outsource parties. But have they spoken to co who had used these outsource parties and decide to give up on the outsource parties and to find out why had they give up? Well, CEO may retire soon so it will not be him to clear the mess years later that are created by these expert outsource parties.

It’s about cost. However from a total cost standpoint I don’t think it is cheaper if problems don’t get resolved and tickets are endlessly closed. If you had less but more competent folks the math would be ok. Penny wise pound foolish to outsource

Cognizant is paid peanuts by Nike for all the work they do. Most of their people are totally useless with no knowledge, just talks and this expansion was made it possible by The RAT since he has business with Cognizant himself.

In all honesty, why not? Every couple of years leadership faces rotate in and out. Most (not all) are of the cookie cutter variety. Ones who's highest level of accountability is to say "I'm accountable". They come up with a "brand new plan" (that we've gone through before) with very minimal input, because you obviously can figure it out by asking just a few people and taking their word for it.

Wait a couple more leadership cycles from now. The focus will shift from the $ win to the trying to get the quality win. Those contracts will decrease, we will get overloaded, then there will be an ETW push which will eventually turn into a FTE push which will then bring us right back to here again.

Highly reliable? No freakin way. Just spin things in circles until people get tired of trying to get anything fixed or done

@afr+1radnpcw which is exactly my point. Why would Nike not wanna try to get cheap labor for their technical work as well? If they can get it with the actual products aka core business while tech is considered an "enabling function", why would they not try to use cognizant?

@yes+1radnpcw some of us are doing good technical work too. Not everyone here is sewing shoes.

Again, we aren't a tech company. We are a shoe company founded on cheap labor, so we probably expect cheap labor for other stuff too.
